Show Your Dedication to the Hobby - Get Inked (1 Viewer)

to each his and her own. when I was a little kid I was taught that I would have to "earn the ink" if I wanted a tat. Like a tribal or clan affiliation, a battle(s) or someplace served, things like that. So I have no tats on me unless I've done something more than pull the money out of my account to earn it.

It's just my personal opinion and not everyone would agree with it. I don't really judge people by what they put on their bodies, adornment and decoration but I do think about the above when people display them. "What did they do to earn that? What does it mean?

Though, the argument can be made that toy soldier collecting is tribal and clan like judging by the various cliques that exist surrounding certain companies. :D

To each their own (I guess) but remember 1) even the middle-aged like me make certain assumptions about tatooed people, it may not be "right" but it happens and people my age often are the ones who interview for jobs and 2) working in surgery I can tell you that there WILL be jokes or comments made about your tats, especially the "private" ones.

I couldn't agree more with the prior two comments. My father said if I ever got one, he'd disown me.

I work in a industry full of tatooed blokes and 1)There employed because of not what they have tatooed on there bodys but they are great workers, isnt that what you want work not what they look like eg tats.2)When im in surgery zonked out who cares what they laugh at etc as long as they do there jobs.So i would say my time in the Army 70-80% of blokes had tatoo,s so what about them thanks for serving your country but no to the job you have a tatoo.(My Tat is military i earnt it).

I have friends who have their unit patches as tats, marines, etc. Yes, they belonged to something larger than themselves and most did active service in Iraq and Afghanistan. In my mind, thats earning it.

As far as being disowned - thats a bit over the top. In Jewish culture, tatoos are forbidden and really not respected. But, the ultra orthodox also keep their hair and nail clippings so... Just so some of you have some reference to go on.

I have a Marine Corp Bulldog with a Smoky Bear hat and USMC above it on my upper arm. A time in my life when I got it done but never regretted getting the tattoo. Besides it does not show unless the shirt shows my upper arm.

You all with the body art should think ahead. When you pull off the big caper, it is always the tattoo that gets you caught. Of course, on the plus side, the tattoo also helps the police ID the body. -- lancer
