The wheels are rubber rimmed in the photo; which indicates mid production. Late production had the steel wheels in common with the Kingtiger.

Ah, thanks. I think I see what you mean with the dark around the edge of the rims, but they do not appear to be the dish wheels I normally associate with the rubber rimmed wheels. They look like the flatter wheels that I associate with the steel wheeled Tiger. Did this wheel configuration also come with rubber?
 
Tiger steel wheels did not have rubber rims. The steel wheels were introduced around December of 1943. Many Tiger Is were equipped with them by June 1944. Several wheels in the photo of the FL Tiger I show a black rim indicitive of rubber rims IMO.

Well, your opinion aside, they are steel and there is no rubber. Most likely this is just a function of the shadowing of the photograph and general weathering. Believe me, I know, it's sitting right next to me. :smile2:
