Siege of Khartoum (1 Viewer)

Thanks for the info and the links, Randy. I watched Khartoum again last night and was itching for something to read this weekend. You've helped me out.

Hey thanks for the link and the information in your previous post, Randy. I still have to find a few moments to check out that link. Also wanted to ask if the BEF listed here was the force that landed in Egypt in 1882? How much of this force lingered in the region after hostilities with the Egyptians had concluded and how much of this force had dispersed back to their postings in The Med., UK, India etc.....

To put it another way, was this essentially the same force that embarked on the Gordon Relief expedition in 84 or 85?

I'll post the Order of Battle for Khartoum later for comparison.

Some folks have asked what the Egyptian leaning over the rail is doing?
I believe he has been wounded and in the process dropped his revolver to the ground. If so we should have John make a revolver to go with the set.

I have included the Somerset Ltd. version for comparison. John's is more directly based upon the painting

A good color portrait of Gordon to compare with John's figure

Okay, thanks. I'll keep an eye out for that. That M. Perry article is a wealth of info. on the uniforms question I raised earlier btw. :)

Is not the Sudan where Corporal Jones developed his passion for cold steal?

Is it me or does Gordon look alot like another Gordon (that is Brown) in GW Joys painting!
