Six paint choices of Eagle Design SdKfz 251 (1 Viewer)

My two ED halftracks lobbed up at my door on Friday. I purchased the tri-camo and winter versions and I'm extremely impressed with the quality, detail and of course the prices for both of the vehicles. Here's some pic's of the camo version. I'll post some pic's of my winter version at a later date.

Tom no point as have the same one , did the the winter version come with with the canopie ?

Yes Neil, the winter version comes with a canopy.

Looks good Tom, think I am in for one to test the water. Robin.

I think you won't be disappointed Robin and it will work great with your JJD Jag. Take note though that it's on the smaller side of 1/30 scale so it matches up well with WW2 JJD, Britains, Figarti, Kronprinz and FL.

Oh and it's got a nice weight to it as well.

Good looking vehicle Tom. I'm think to get grey one.

When these were recently released the opinion was expressed that this is a late war version and wouldn't have been in grey.

Thanks Mark for your point. Do you mean Ausf D version is late war version and it didn't come with grey?

I agree Mark, it's doubtful that this version would have come out in grey. I read that it was supplied from 1943 on wards which would have made the desert version inaccurate as well.

On another note, the camo on my pictured version I think matches ok with my two FL Normandy Tigers and my two newer released Figarti Normandy Panthers. I think it will also look ok with my two JJD Jags.

Tom,

the 222 and winter versions are on my to purchase list

Mark

Better not muck around to long mate, there's only 4 and 3 left of each version!

Tom

That's just eBay tactics to get people to buy. When they go to zero they pop back up almost immediately with a new listing. Everything Eagle Designs as ever released in 1/30 is still available. Nothing sells out.

The road wheels and drive sprocket appear to be a bit off in spacing and alignment:

In particular, there should be a greater void between the drive-sprocket, and the drive sprocket needs to be raised a bit.

Sorry, if my comments seems overly critical.

I always thought the SdKfz 251 looked like an older Nissan Pathfinder with the angular rear end.

Not critical at all Moe and you raised a good point however this model is a D version and I think the spacing is a bit closer compared to the earlier versions. I took the pic below in the Munster Tank Museum in Germany and it's a bridge laying D version. I think the spacing on this vehicle is closer than the previous versions. The spacing and track layout is not completely realistic to the real thing but I still think it's pretty good just the same.

I just found a pic of the A version and the spacing looks closer and I think nearly the same as the D version depicted in the model.
