Have you read the books. I’m just starting the second one.Apple tv series with academy award winner Gary Oldman about a group of MI5 misfits. One of the best series I've seen. Watched thru season 3 and number 5 being filmed.
I get hooked on the episodes and start binge watching. It's a stand out series, some episodes are a slow burn but worth the wait.
Gary Oldman ranks as one of the greatest actors of all time. He's a 'Goodie' (kinda) in Slow Horses but his 'Baddies' are so convincing that many people don't recognize him, such as:
Dracula, the incompetent Baddie in The Fifth Element and the drug crazy Cop in Leon-The Professional.
I thought it was pretty good although not as good as a le Carre book. Yes, I’ve watched all of them. There is also a podcast called Barbican Station.Just found out about the series and books, will probably read them. How was the first book/have you seen the series?
My interest in Spy shows started with 'Callan', a gritty British TV series on the Cold War, 'Reilly Ace of Spies' was another good TV series, can't say I've seen them since, maybe you could find them on Youtube.I get hooked on the episodes and start binge watching.
Reilly Ace was superb and the original Smiley's People. Also watched Foyle's War which was excellent. My interest in Spy shows started with 'Callan', a gritty British TV series on the Cold War, 'Reilly Ace of Spies' was another good TV series, can't say I've seen them since, maybe you could find them on Youtube.
I guess you're aware of Smilleys People and similar, however you may not have heard of 'Foyle's War', an excellent British TV series about a Detective set in WW2, includes several spy based episodes.
And of course my favourite 'Archer' a long running animated Spy/Action/Comedy TV series that I binge watch everytime I need a laugh, as entertaining as 'Modern Family' imo.
I read book 4, didn't want to read one already seen in the series. Thought it quite good, but not as good as le Carre as you mentioned. Much of Slough House has the same machinations of the upper echelons of MI5 as le Carre's books. Didn't like his, le Carre, post Cold War novels, with the exception of Night Manager, as his earlier works.I thought it was pretty good although not as good as a le Carre book. Great show and loved the theme songAll this talk of old spy shows reminds me of Patrick McGoohan in " Danger Man" as it was known in England ( Secret Agent in US) :
