Snow Shoe's Shelf Diorama... (1 Viewer)

looking at Lenswerk's...aka...Donnie's...beautiful shelf displays today...I got motivated while watching the scoreless first half of the Green Bay/Detroit game today and pulled out a small shelf diorama base I made months ago...

I had made this base perfectly sized to fit inside my shelf with a nice little framed and stained exterior...but never used it as a permanent display because I was afraid of what the Woodland Scenic's Snow Flakes might do long term to the bases....

I had heard stories of how if left on too long that it adheres to the bases and destroys them...so...I decided to set it up and just not use the WS Snow Flakes and think it looks okay with the bases exposed...

You've got a very similar display to mine...I've even got a 'river' display underneath my showshoes display!
Not wanting to detract from your display, but I'll post some pictures of my set up in the next few days....assuming the light is right!

Post them up Pete...I would love to see your work...my dios a little crowded......I need bigger shelves for this series...

after playing with these figures this morning...I think they are the sturdiest and heaviest figures I have ever seen...the weight on them is unreal...they have always been one of my favorite collections...

many of them weigh 6 ounces...foot soldiers at 6 ounces...hahaha...that's a lot of metal...

No snow here in the east, and I'm just fine with that. I get all the winter feelings I need from your dio!!

Pete...that's too cool...I love the choice of backdrops on your B of M's...that looks like what I think the forest would really look like...I also like how you framed each section for your backdrop...

if you have had this at your house all this time and are just now sharing it...well that's just mean...hahaha...

I hope you will continue to post more pictures in the future...I love your collection...also love how you "mossed" the rocks...nice touch...thanks for the views...

Thought it was about time I posted some pictures!
Used your tip for groundcover.....Bark chippings in a coffee grinder and mixed with potting compost.
I like the dark wood frames as they break up the back/sides of the shelf.

I see your groundwork...it looks very realistic...like bare earth in a forest...you did a very nice job on your presentation...

the funny thing is...it really matches John's Monongahela bases extremely well too...I mean a really close match...

I really love the BOS set...it is clearly my #1 favorite. See attached photos from a museum display we did as a local club in 2009. One of the vignettes is the BOS. It is on the cube inside the glass cabinet on the far left of the photo. Amazing how many more BOS figures have been added since we set this up, If we ever get a chance to do it again, no doubt it could now be twice the size.

both the display and your Snow Shoe's diorama are really cool...you're right...I see a lot of the newer releases of that series not in your diorama...time to update...hahaha...but seriously...John was really good to us on that series...it was a popular series and he gave us a great variety of figures...I just hope it doesn't end...

at least til we get Beaubien...hahaha...

I'm so happy that people are showing their collections...

your work...it's beautiful...I get so many ideas when I see other people's work...you're is quite nice...
