What's up with this? This fixing scandel appears to be HUGE in nature, even involving the World Cup. Certainly has the potential to knock Lance Armstrong and HGH stories off the front page. Anyone in the know on this? -- Al

Al...

This will be huge if the early indications are proven true. At present some 720 games are being looked at and, a large number of officials, players and managers are going to have some interesting questions to answer. no part of the game is immune and, Interpol today believed a good bit of this will derive from the English game!!!

There are some games that you think how did that happen and, now we may have a good idea just why it happened. Will be watching this with great interest

Egads. This sounds like it could get real ugly. :( -- Al

Mitch, Al, where can I find an article about this? Does this involve the EPL? Thanks Chester
It has been a front page story on the Washinton Post newspaper here in DC. I haven't checked the ESPN website but I would guess it's on there. -- Al

If you go to the BBC website, you can find some info about it. Although this will probably be big, there have been scandals before and there was one in Italy not that long ago, which resulted in relegations of top flight teams. I believe there have also been fixing scandals involving referees.

However, if this involved the WC, that would not be good.

Fifa and the PL have made initial statements but, we are now seeing specific games and players starting to be named and investigated. Liverpool's champions league game is one they have announced and several games in the world cup and, qualifiers are under close scrutiny.

I think this will make the Italian scandals and corruption look tame and, will more than likely see us back investigating Italian teams also.

What a complete shambles but, when you have the amounts of money involved in a sport its going to happen. Its now just the scale of what is found that is going to cause horrendous problems not the fact its going on.
