Some interesting news and pics from JJD UK (1 Viewer)

Lots of great stuff here. The only thing I see is that John's windmill might be too short.

Maybe James will get John to do another windmill to scale for FIW?

The JJD model looks like it has a diameter of 6 ft. and a height to the top of the walls of 10 ft. The actual windmill in Quebec had a diameter of 12 ft and a wall height of 30 ft. At 1:30 scale it would have a diameter of 5 inches and a height of 12 inches. Something that size would be heavy and expensive. But the difficulty with the JJD model is the size and shape is typical of a portugese windmill which looks nothing like the much larger mills in Quebec.

Hi Terry,

I agree with you about the size. But John does make some large terrain pieces at times.

I really like the info you and others have shared. Very interesting stuff.

Wow, that Rickenbacker SPAD is a beauty! Looks like she will be in my sights soon. Chris

There Are pics on Jjduk site, two Indians and a ranger. Can't wait!

Great looking figures.
Does anybody know which Frontline set the Roger's figure is from?

Pete

Thanks. I guess I was thinking there would be a link.

Very nice stuff. Very pleased to see the new Indians.

One of the joys for me collecting John's figures is to watch his sculptures mature. That side by side shot if fantastic. You can see how much detail John packs into the figures. I also think that John's figures show a lot of life to them by the poses that they have.

These will be on my watch list. Father's Day is coming up in June. James, do you think these will be out then? :)

So the new officer obviously isn't Rogers, I do know it is part of a 2 figure set, new Indian scout included!!! Anyone have the original frontline Rogers himself? Would love to see it!
Sadly I missed all these and they command a premium price nowadays!
Pete?

I love the fact that we are going to get another melee figure in an Indian set. Zoom into the picture and there are all kinds of neat things hanging around the shop. I can see the foot of a ......

It is nice to know that John's painting area is as cluttered as mine.^&grin

Looking forward to seeing some more goodies from your trip.

Is it me or does that prototype look like Spencer Tracy.{eek3}

The ranger figure in the photo below was a Frontlline release sculpted by John Jenkins. The figure is a very close to this "portrait", including the nose. From the Osprey volume American Colonial Ranger, page 11:

"Mezzotint "portrait" of Major Rogers, published in 1776, a completely spurious likeness, unfortunately referenced in studies of ranger uniforms. In fact, the only authentic items seen were lifted from Benjamin West's The Death of General Wolfe. This print was made when it was still thought that Rogers, at the head detachment of Indian allies, had joined Washington's Army."

But as Washington did not fully trust Rogers's loyalty to the American cause, Washington did not allow Rogers to join the American Army.

That picture is very nice.

The Indian standing is one of my favorite poses. I think that the new Indian sculpt is a similar, but updated sculpt of this Indian. The early rangers and Indians are something that I missed getting.

Don't know if anyone else has noticed - in the top right hand corner of the picture of John in his workshop, on top of the boxes - looks to me like a Panzer I in desert colours. ( ? )
Also looks like another big AFV hidden just in front and slightly below it.
