Some K&C news from Hong Kong (1 Viewer)

After spending the long weekend at Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown, how about a range that includes the explorers/conquerors of the New World? I was thinking of that while I was touring Jamestown with my wife and six month old daughter. The range could start with the Vikings in 1100 AD and go from there. It would include South America as well. Jamestown would be just one small part of a larger range. Some pictures of my little warrior princess below on vacation.

Here is my girl manning the Jamestown fort 3 lb cannon.

Here she is at the 3 lb cannon aboard the Susan Consant. I was in the Navy for almost five years and there is no way I would cross the Atlantic in that cracker box!

My little girl loves mortars. Here we are in the British lines at Yorktown. Look how happy she is.

Her favorite cannon on the visit. A French 6 pounder.

Was it done in matte ?

Anyway - It would be a very cool conflict to have a range

I thought with the special "dealer" figure being made for ToySoldiers Paris - there might be hope. :D

Hi Ron,

As you doubtless know, CBG Mignot is one of the two oldest existing toy soldier companies (W. Britains is the other one). To the best of my knowledge, Mignot has only produced figures in a glossy finish. The Mignot style is very charming, but might not appeal to a collector who is primarily interested in matte finished figures.

Yes, Mignot has produced some figures and several diorama boxes depicting French soldiers engaged in action during the Franco-Prussian War. Granted, Mignot has not produced large numbers of Franco-Prussian War figures and the Franco-Prussian War may be under-represented in the products manufactured by toy soldier companies, but a few figures depicting this conflict have been produced.

An excellent article that summarizes the events of the Franco-Prussian War and the figures produced by Mignot can be found in the March 2008 issue of Toy Soldier and Model Figure Magazine (Page 28 - 31).

I hope the above information is helpful to you.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

This would be great.I have been reading about French pioneers in the New World and always have been fascinated by these brave men.To go into space or go across the ocean nowadays still takes great bravery but now people have many people backing them up but in the age of exploration these men went into the unknown with nothing but their courage.I have the JJD Champlain figure and hope to add to the collection.

How about the 6-day War (1967 Arab-Israeli War)?
Or the Spanish Civil War?
