Sepp Allenburger and his "second" are moving back to their home-base and a good night's sleep. To reach the extraordinary kill ratio he was able to achieve on the Russian Front required sound tactics and thinking. On this occasion, due to extreme fatigue Allenburger and his companion move through a village "afire". This choice outlines their silhouette and brings the fire of a Russian patrol. The second knee-jerks a blast from his MP40 and Allenburger raises his scoped G43. Allenburger's protector dies for their tactical mistake. CTS and TSSD plastic toy figures and photoshop.

Elements of the Agurts Forsetti division move through a village on their side of the border. Enemy foragers have been moving into the mountainous regions looking for food and people to... To the low-life enemy soldier, the human body had other uses besides just sex. it's not talked about privately, but the "National Rag" went on and on about what was found in the devastated mountain regions. Viking Shield is what the Forsetti were called. Harkening back to a time a couple thousand years and to the free-ranging and highly brutal Vikings that protected their own people and made hell for others. The Forsetti were good at what needed to happen, especially in mountainous and snow challenge regions. Here we see Forsetti elements doing what they do well.

Octavian moves into Egypt to avenge the slight to his sister by the defacto consort of Egypt, Marc Antony. Antony has fallen in lust with Cleopatra and enjoys the power that being the primary leader of an Oriental country brings. The exotic drugs he imbibes do not make his mind clear for strategy when he finally engages Octavian's armies at the "Battle of the Pyramids". The "exotics" do add to his already great courage and he recklessly and suicidally assaults the great legions of Rome. His ill-trained Egyptian conscripts and Roman and Greek mercenaries....succeed and win a pyrrhic victory over the well-trained Roman Legions. Cleopatra's god's win over the Roman god's on this day. As history shows us, this is the beginning of Greco-Egyptian hegemony over the Mediterranean and former Roman holdings. After the many years of campaigning to come (another story) Rome becomes the city called Caesarian and influences science, military thought and philosophy for many years thereafter. Below, we see the last of Octavian's Guard (The Harlot's Own) being pushed up onto the small rise to the west of the crumbling pyramids. They did not surrender, but fought until the end...even after Octavian crawled out of the protection of the esteemed and surrounded legion and tried to surrender. His end was not pretty, but "The Harlot's Own" are revered and taught within grade-school even today. Wink. 1/32 scale Forces of Valor Roman plastic soldiers. For the sake of full disclosure, the mass of soldiers are actually two plastic soldiers photographed and arranged at differing angles as if on a mythical rise opposite the great pyramids. Made this one this evening. Fun.

Roman cavalry run down the remaining barbarian stragglers that have been decimated at the recent battle for empire. Marcus Aurelius is aged, but still has an eye for the best in all fields. his field general has lead the Roman army to victory again and again! FOV Roman figures and TSSD barbarians. The action movements with these figures are marvelous.

War! It is 1906 and Emperor Karl Franz of Austria-Hungary has invaded Russia. The reasons are murky to many and the casus-beli is a lie... the history books will indicate the large, smelly and destructive "toys" of the Emperor as the real reason for war. Having already made Bismarck's Germany a vassal 15 years earlier, so soon after their unification, increased Karl Franz's self confidence. While other's developed steam cars and commerce wagons. Feisty Karl collected toy soldiers and steam-scientists to develop his imaginary war-machines. The earlier steam-machine pistols won the war with united Germany and now he placed his hopes on the gargantuan "Steam-Demons" to take large parts of Russia. The Ukraine area and it's vast farming lands were the immediate goals. Food was needed for the enhanced family births' within the Empire. Karl Franz encouraged large family units. More people meant bigger armies. Toy soldiery, on his shelves, were no longer sufficient. Even today, from the rotting books, that survive...the reason they worked is not fully known. "Steam" of course, was the locomotion...men were inside the large behemouths'/moving structures to operate their movement, they required huge expenditures in time/maintenace to keep them moving; large fleets of horse-driven wagons, kept grease, water and the Greek-Fire cartridges (ammunition) for the steam-cannons mounted on the demon-inspired machines themselves. The Empire that "Feisty Karl", (as he is known today in oral story-history), was short lived. He made a short-death of the Czar's armies and his Empire stretched from Eastern Germany to the Russian Urals, but sickness made Karl's life brief. Untreated syphilis was his end. His coveted Royal Toy Soldier's were distributed amongst his field generals, his heir killed and his "Steam-Demons" taken up by these same formally loyalist generals. The European diaspora that came about later was due to these same convening events as recounted orally, here, 150 years later.
This early "hand-colored etching" shows the Czar's own Cossacks futilely charging the "Steam-Demons" as they spit their "Greek-Fire" cartridges. It is told orally that they were able to topple one on the destructive machines by luring it towards and "onto" a large camouflaged hole. This victory was short-lived as indicated by the historical events following.

Pirate Captain Tedder of her former Majesties' ship "Trident" moves through the jungle with his most trusted lieutenants. They have come to bury another hoard of gold recently gathered from another plundered Spanish ship. The island is secret and a few of his henchmen are used as pawns... as he opens the chest for another look before burial. He is set upon by former shipmates that he has set adrft in the past (they survived) and the local native tribe that have grievances against the notorious captains' excesses. The skirmish is short and bloody and the winner is immortalized in books today. FOV pirates and photoshop.
