Rockin' Around the Xmas Tree - Brenda Lee
Never can be quite sure - but apparently, an "Orange" Van was seen working on the local Bank ATM - and coincidentially - soon after - the whole village and surrounding area had reports of TV services/Internet/Mobile Phones going out of order. When this occurs - we always ring around friends - and quickly established that they were all getting similar faults and loss of service on various broadband reliant devices.
When "normal service" ( i.e dead slow broadband ) was restored - on a piecemeal basis, lots of people found that their equipment wouldn't restart!! ( e.g my so-called livebox was no more - it was a dead livebox!!{eek3}).
A phone call made on my landline to my broadband supplier - eventually got a response from a very harrassed geezer - who advised me to go to a Tobacconist shop in a nearby village to COLLECT a new one - on Friday AFTER 5pm. Even though they apparently couldn't DELIVER it to me - this worked - and we were then left to sort out how to reconnect it up ourselves. ( cleverly - the "Help desk" doesn't work after 5pm on Friday - but opens after the weekend!!!!! How Clever is that!!). Also - the handy CD with how to connect instructions had an "English" language option. Sadly, however, although we could SELECT this option - someone had omitted to make it work!!!! Brilliant!!!
Fortunately - I know a man..........who knows a bit about these things............and over a few drinks............we figured it all out.......eventually. Hic!
Welcome to Rural France!!! jb
