Spartacus - the final season (1 Viewer)

Best episode of the year this week. The blood was really flowing. They are overdue to off a major character.

Nah, I think they [Australians] work cheaper. Nice in a way as you don't have to
watch the same actors program after program, season after season. Also, overseas
filming locations lend themselves to less expensive production costs and tax breaks.
We're taxing ourselves out of existence. Some States more than others. Except for
Facebook that is.

I see that the guy who plays Crixus is on Arrow.

Caesar took one for the team this week. And the cards are starting to fall on the major characters. I wonder if they will somehow bend the historical narrative and end this show on a high note. Can't see them ending on a bummer.

Crassus had no son called Tiberius. So I wonder what they're doing with him. Spartacus body was never recovered. So there's some space for interpretation. But for the rest of the slaves it's just like in the film Titanic: you can play the story as you like. But at the end the ship has to sink!

I think what this series really needs is about 400 or so more buckets of blood, more nudity and more R/X rated scenes as they are lacking in all three areas.

I also didn't know that the establishment of Golds Gym/use of steroids goes as far back as the time of Spartacus, every slave looks like he could compete for Mr Olympia, they've clearly perfected the 8/6/6/4 lifting routine.

And those Romans aren't the fighting machine I thought they were, they constantly get caught with their pants down/lose skirmish after skirmish to the slaves, what a bunch of hacks.

I didn't realize they never found his body. That could be the out to end the show. Eating grapes with his new girlfriend on the beach of some remote land - fade to black - the end. Tiberius has an ugly ending written all over him. If past experience from this show holds true, he is in for a major chop up session. Whether the slaves or Caesar get him is all that remains in doubt.

Crassus and his REAL son Publios both get what they deserve with their invasion of the Parthian { Persian}Empire. That would be a nice little follow up story when the series ends with the slave revolt crushed.
Allowing the Parthians to draw them far into the desert, far from water, then attacked by thousands of horse archers and Persian Cataphracts, armored cavalry. Crassus is shown his sons head on a spear, retreats leaving all the wounded and surrounded troops to the Parthians. Begs a truce { his surviving troops demand a parley} and is slaughtered along with his entourage .

I recall this occurs while Caesar is in Gaul, and in letters to Crassus, he encouraged the invasion in the East.
" OH sure, easy deal,The Persians are whimps, no problem, you'll be victorious, go for it"

One more episode to go! It's been a great show. Most of his followers are no doubt doomed to a gory end. The only question now is whether they somehow salvage a happy ending for Spartacus himself. It would be a real bummer for him go down at this point. The stuff of history doesn't always make for good genre fiction.

Nice end titles with a suitable dedication. I also liked the "nod" to "I'm Spartacus"!^&grin

Playing catch up here as I only just finished watching season 3 in one week {im seeing blood everywere}.
Hated seeing Gannicus go that way should have died in combat not on a crucifix.
I would say it was as good as season 2 but the first season still the best!

Started re-watching the series again the other night. Halfway through season 1 and it's just as brutal, cleverly written, and entertaining as I remember it when I first watched it. And by brutal, I mean blood and gore everywhere. :wink2: -- Al

A great show from beginning to end. They really knew how to make an action show. Lots of blood, gore, and good/bad guy characters.
