More Spartans picked up at the WC first batch part of a commission. For a collector in So. Cal.. Not finished yet but you get the idea. Will post more as they are finished.

Some for me with some plastic underground figures

Few more for me.

I have been experimenting with different colors for highlighting.

Been playing with a new skin tone.

Underlining is a big part for higher end work. Takes a long time but really makes details stand out.

Lots of new techniques for me to add to the repertoire.

I think I am getting to be a better painter. The trick now is to check all the details before the final clear coat.

Nice work Michael. I agree, the highlighting you're doing is worth the effort.

Simon

Hi Michael,

As usual, your work is most impressive! I very much look forward to viewing the finished figures!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Thanks guys. My son noticed a vast improvement in my work too. My philosophy about painting is the better the figure the better the job! Gotta pay attention to the details!

Nice seeing the results of the paint brush in your hands My Lord General and along with MM1955 can you provide us with some close ups good sir. Hope all;s been well at your end.....Your Humble Aide de Camp

Excellent work. Are those plastic or metal figures? They look like Conte 54mm plastic is that right?

Walt

They are the Conte plastics yes.

Close ups of helmet and shield detail before black/underlining.

Awesome work Mike! Tell me, how in the world do you do your outlining so straight and even?!?! Looks great! Thank you for sharing :).

The Conte Spartans just have great sculpting. I finally found a great pen. I tried technical pens and had problems with the tips getting clogged. Found an India Ink pen with a superfine tip from D&J Hobby. It works great!

Shield underlined, notice also the helmet underlined. It is different the the one shown earlier. Underlining really makes things snap. iphone does lousy closeups or there was too much light.

Still have loads of detail to go. Backs of shields, swords and leather pieces. I hate sandals! Then base work. Lots of touch up then clear coat, washes and final dull cote and gloss on shiny parts.

awesome job. how long has it taken thus far? I guess it beats the cost of buying the finished metals.

Thanks for the tip Mike! :) I'll try and track one of those pens down.

As you can see there are quite a few figures and to be frank I have lost track of how long I have been working on them. They have been done to varying levels of detail. Some take longer than others. There are over 45 figures being worked on right now. I have to take breaks and do other things. One of the disadvantages to ADHD. I get bored easily. I am also working on the Tanks and WWII figures too.:D:D:D:D:D
