Spartans! Spartans! (2 Viewers)

Wow those are good! The bare headed figure looks like Steve Reeves..

Quite an impressive job. I really like the effect of the white trim and centers used on a few of the shields. The Llamda really stands out. -- Al

NICE, can we have some close ups?

That batch has gone out. I am slowly working on some that are for resale. These I will be doing at an even higher level of workmanship. I will provide some pictures soon. The trick is keeping space available and clear for pictures. I will try using the tripod.

Really great job. Those figures in blue are really striking. They just pop out at you. -- Al

I do use acrylics. They dry pretty fast though I often use an extender.

I really looked over the Russian painted figures at the shop and then tried to replicate what I had seen.

Yes those are ALL excellent. Why the different shield colors, are they different "regiments" or something?

Glad you guys like them. These will be going on sale at the shop.

There are many different groups of "Hoplites" The name is a derivative that comes from the name of there armor . I believe is Hoplon. Anyway lots of different types of outfits and loads of colors. Just Google "Hoplites".

I think they are coming out great and will post more pictures soon. I will be charging more for them as I progress in skill.

Just think my Lord General the fun you'll have sinking your teeth into the new plastic Persian Immortals with the help of your paint brush shortly after they make the scene and there's no doubt they'll be a site to behold. Hope all's been well my Kilted Lord..........Your Humble Aide de Camp the Lt.

I can only hope! Also my hat is off to anyone who has painted the 300! Anyone done so? I am up to 100. Maybe a few more.

Almost done. Minor detail work to finish then the bases. Thought I would pose them in front of a castle piece.

Oops! The figures in the background need lots of work! But obviously the ones in front are almost ready!

I watched 300 again this weekend w/ my nephew and it sparked the Conte Spartan flame! I thought I'd share some pics of Conte's classic Spartans and Persians. I hope someday RC continues w/ his original plan to extensively expand on this range. I recall that there was a whole planned expansion w/ set numbers and titles already decided upon, including two scenic sets featuring the Phoenecian Wall. Does anybody have any news regarding the possibility of these releases ever seeing the light of day? For now, here are a few pics of the Conte AG series classics...I've always felt that no one depicts fever-pitch battle like Conte. Regarding the photography, there are a few guys on the TF forum who really can't stand when people use flash. Not all of us have appropriate light. Not all of us are seasoned photographers. Please keep in mind that this is just for fun. :) Thanks and enjoy the Conte artistry!
