There has been a lot of speculation lately that we might start a range for the Western Front (self addmittedly fueled in no small part by myself playing with Sammy's emotions!). Well, that may or may not be so, but we are certainly moving full speed ahead on our Stalingrad range one way or another!!! We are very pleased to present the latest releases for our marquis eastern front WWII range, the Battle of Stalingrad. Over the past two years the questions we've been asked most about this range are "when will you make snipers?", "when will you make a T-34?", and "when will you make some casualties?" Well, with this month's latest series of releases, GERSTAL043-046 and RUSSTAL016-RUSSTAL019 we'll have finally addressed all of these requests (I can just feel my inbox filling up with new suggestions as I type!). So without further adieu, we give your our renditions of the iconic T-34 (appropriately the STZ version) and German and Russian Casualty sets. We've also tossed in a German 80mm Mortar Team and Feldwebel directing fire as well as our first personality figure for the range, General Paulus, for good measure. All of these wonderful new sets will be shipping to customers first week of May.

GERSTAL043 German Heer Infantry Casualty - $64.95
GERSTAL044 German Heer Infantry 80mm Mortar Team - $139.95
GERSTAL045 German Heer Infantry Feldwebel Directing Fire - $64.95
GERSTAL046 General Friedrich Paulus - $64.95
RUSSTAL016 Russian Carrying Wounded Comrade Vignette - $129.95
RUSSTAL017 Russian Infantry Casualty - $64.95
RUSSTAL018 Russian T-34 76mm STZ with Cast Turret - $299.95
RUSSTAL019 Russian T-34 76mm STZ with Welded Turret - $299.95
Shipping First Week of May 2012

T-34s in next post..............

We are very pleased to present the first of our coverage of the AFV's and Vehicles of the Red Army WWII with the T-34 76mm. Our version of what was arguably the finest tank of WWII is the 1942 76mm version produced at the Stalingrad Tractor Factory (STZ). We have presented two variants of the model, one with a cast turret and one with a welded turret to allow for slightly different models to add interest and variety to displays. We certainly hope you enjoy them!

With the superb sculpting and painting you've come to expect from First Legion, this vehicle has the following features:

- Fully traversing turret
- Opening and Closing Turret Hatch
- 76mm Gun can be raised or lowered
- Extremely realistic track setup.

That covers it for now, but we'll be starting additional pre-orders soon that are sure to please you Nap fans. Sorry, no info on new ranges just yet, so move along, nothing but Stalingrad to see here!

Trivia Question: What does RUSSTAL019 say on the tank?

Best,

Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is the difference between the 2 t34s? Can someone point it out for me? Thanks!

I can't take it anymore, I'm going to HAVE to dive into the FL WWII pool. I tried so hard to only collect FL Crusaders, but these are great looking releases and I've gotta do it.

One has a cast turret, cast in one piece. The housing the gun fits into is angled down at 60 degrees until it reaches the lower part (the reciprocator or recoil mechanism) at which point it goes straight down. The slogan is For the Motherland.

The tank with the welded turret shows the rough welds on the turret which was assembled from several steel plates and welded. The recoil mechanism and gun mount go all the way down at 60 degrees looking like a chisel. Typical for the factory it was produced in. The slogan is For Stalin.

IMO I definitely prefer the welded turret.

As Terry has pointed out, one was cast in a single piece and the other was welded together from flat metal plates. So the differences that show up on the models because of this are:

1. The cast turret is much more rounded while the welded turret is much more angular. Most noticeable when viewing them straight on.
2. The welded turret has the bolting on the rear of the turret while the cast turret required no bolting. Rear edges are round on cast turrer, edges hard on welded.
3. The recuperator sleeve that holds the gun mount is different.
4. The commander's hatch cover is different.

These side by sides should help you see some of the differences.

Absolutley wonderful sets!!!!! I must say I have been waiting for a mortar team to come along, as well as casualties /Russian tanks/ and a General (got to have someone to lead the boys right:)) joking aside all of these new sets look great! and these are the kind of days that make collecting First Legion so fun, we may not have new releases every single month but when they do "pop" up it makes the wait that much more worth while, so once again thanks First Legion for awesome set of new releases, keep up the great work...Sammy

p.s. Matt stop messing with my emotions:) you know June 6th is only 56 days away?:):)

Excellent new pieces. Those new T-34's are awesome, best I've seen to date! Well done FL! Also thanks to our forum members and FL for providing more details about these two different T-34 versions, very interesting and informative. I also appreciate the variety of angles and pictures FL provides its customers to help us make an informed choice about our purchases. Keep up the great work. {bravo}}

I am in agreement with you Terry, I do like the look of the welded turret, but it is nice to be able to have a couple different tanks for future dios or battles, thanks again First Legion...Sammy
