My 10 year old son, after purchasing his first iPod, used his money to buy the sountracks to Star Wars episodes 4 and 6 (I already owned the CD of #1). As he plays them constantly, he keeps asking, "Hey dad, exactly what is happening in this part of the movie?"

Scary thing is...he's seen them enough that HE KNOWS just based on the music!

I guess that makes us a Star Wars family!

I chose "Star Wars", based on the original movie, but could easily have chosen "Star Trek" or "Dr. Who" as well.

Been watching Star Trek since it premiered with the original cast. With all the different spin-offs this series is unbeatable for diversity and entertainment. I also have seen the Star Wars movies and really liked the original 3, not so much the second 3 and have never seen any of the other related stuff. Kirk, Picard, Cisco, Janeway, and Archer have provided me with many hours of fun. Go Borg! -- lancer

Gonna go with Star Wars, though I severely dislike Episodes 1-3, I love Episodes 4-6, also like the original Star Trek w/ William Shatner.

I voted Star Trek But loved the Stargates ( other one coming,Stargate Universe)new Battlestar Galactica,Outer limits (old & new).Big Sci-Fi fan but I have never cared for the Star War movies.

I prefer the sci-fi/horror films like "Alien" or "The Thing." How about "Forbidden Planet"? Don't forget "Lost in Space" a fun TV show in its day.

Alien and The Thing are 2 of the best Sci-Fi movies ever made.I hear I will be disappointed with the new The Day the Earth Stood Still.

favourite film has to be Forbidden planet, stands up well to viewing even today.. as regards sci show, star trek has the quantity and not inconsiderable quality ..favourite was Deep space nine and the jem hader shock troops
Agree with Spitfrnd Babylon 5 was head and shoulders above any other scifi show for the first three to four seasons.., some great characters..the other one I liked for the first season or so was Andromeda. went a bit fluffy after the first or second season , but good fun as was firefly and stargate.

"Forbidden Planet" one of my favorites as is "When Worlds Collide" and the whole "Alien" series but my all time favorite sci-fi is "Blade Runner". Nothing like it for it's gritty realism and overall atmosphere. The original "War of the Worlds" was a really good one and a good one from my early days was "Invaders From Mars". The last one kinda got me hooked on sci-fi as it scared the **** outta me. -- lancer

I'm convinced Sci-fi channel has some kind of computer software program to write these plots. They are all similar and god awful bad. Not good bad like the 50's sci fi movies, just bad.

I agree,some of these old sci fi films are so awful they are brilliant.Its the same with Hammer Horror films,maybe not quite as bad as the fifties stuff,but still hammy enough to be great.

I voted star wars my first love that got me into SiFi but im also really into star trek aswell with DS9 being my favorite series out of the 5 & i have to say the new film reinventing the original crew looks amazing so cant wait to see that later this year!!!
