State of the UK Toy Soldier Market (1 Viewer)

U.K. Collectors should support the uk producers there is a long list of uk makers producing excellent figures from a great variety of eras at very good prices.:salute::

Quite a few do support me but I wish more did of course :)

I know times are tough for everyone, that was why we reduced our prices the other week.

To be frank, I have no idea where our hobby is heading in the UK, it does trouble me somewhat.

I've just received an email in from Darren, at Tommy's War the 1/32 scale resin WW1 maker explaining the reason behind his weekend sale or 50% off.

http://tommyswar.co.uk/

It makes interesting reading, as well as an offer for some fantastic bargains, so check it out here:

Thanks for sharing this! With the low value of the Candian dollar, I've avoided buying directly from the UK; however, it is hard to turn away a 50% discount. I ordered the PPCLI sergeant and the two gunners from the Somme. Looking forward to receiving them!

Cheers,

Brendan

I agree Brendan , with drop in Pound and the discount , even with postage it is a great buy.

Great images and work John.

The L Battery set is a personal favourite of mine. I had hoped that the W Britain set would be as good as, before I left the company I had been talking with and accepting information from someone who's ancestor was at the battle. We remain in contact to this day. I didn't buy the WB version but do own the Tommy's War version, it was the kit that brought Darren and I together oddly enough.

Empire enjoyed working with Tommy's War for the Lancer figure we released this year in conjunction with them. Darren shares my passion for history, WW1 in particular and gives his heart and soul to Tommy's War, as I do Empire.

I really hope, not only for Darren's sake but for that of the hobby, that things improve. I will say the same for myself and Empire as, to be honest, hard work and effort with no real reward or advancement is pointless and soul destroying. I have said before that there is a human story behind the figures produced and the businesses that produce them. Darren, like myself, has been subjected to some interesting comments, a little unpleasantness and poor support across the hobby, so I can fully understand his words and emotions when he mentions heart v head.

I truly wish him well and hope this just proves to be a hiccup.

Two very good choices Brendan. You will enjoy working with them for sure.

I just did a calculation, based on the Sterling exchange these days for Empire now that we have dropped our prices, it made me sit up a little.

Old full price £37.50 equated to Can $67.50.
Now, with price drop and Sterling being weak it is as follows.
New full price £29.99 / Can $51.31.
With the collectors club discount (buy 9 figures bet one free) a foot figure now costs £26.99 / Can $45! A difference of Can $22.50 !

Interesting times we live in people, interesting times. :salute::

Malcolm,

I've watched your company very closely and really like your figures and your company's philosophy. I mostly collect Napoleonic or Canadian themed soldiers, so if Empire makes the jump into the Napoleonic era or makes Candians soldiers from the Great War, I'll definitely be hopping on the bandwagon!

Cheers,

Brendan
