Steadfast Soldiers (1 Viewer)

I personally find Steadfast solders to be quite boring, and below average in quality. Very early pieces were good quality but they never came even close to Trophys... they are not in great demand... I do not keep them in my collection.

I will agree that not close to Trophy. However, I will disagree that they were not good quality. The original Camels with Gatlin guns, water barrels, etc were very nice as are the Naval Gun sets. I also particular like the Staff Wagons and Landaus. I think it all depends on preference. However, I think when you compare to Trophy, it is apples/oranges, the Trophy is just in a class all its own!

I would agree that the sculpting and poses are not as refined as Trophy and usually the painting is inferior too. In my original post I indicated that the painting on this particular set was very well done and on par with Trophy's normal high quality paint work.

As for them being boring, to each their own. I happen to like them and are glad that they are not in great demand. That allows me to add to my collection at very reasonable prices! :D

NOTE, If anyone here feels the same as boerboy and doesn't want their Steadfast figures, please feel free to contact me via a PM. I will be glad to take all of them off of your hands for free! :p

I feel that steadfast does a nice job filling in the blanks where other manufacturers have'nt been. The Air Line stuff, Office carriage, even some of the figs. Where else can you get Victorian Army guys mucking out a stall, or KRRC, Buffds at the trail. The tanks are neat also, all WWI works of art.

I DO agree the quality is less than Trophy in painting , poses, and casting! But as friend Tom just stated(Thanks for the Camels!)...They're both fruit, but apples and oranges when compared. They can still be used in dioramas effectively with other manufacturers and they add need dimension.

When Steadfast goes under (RP) the demand will go up.

I had early Trophy at one time and my biggest gripe was the lack of imagination and variety in their poses and faces. Mostly they would take the same sculpt and just repaint the uniforms for their various victorian conflicts. I felt I had basically a clone army and lost interest in them. My Steadfast are mostly artillery and gatling sets...Michael

Agreed on the early ones!! Trophy got very imaginative with sets as time went on. I mean, where else can you get a Beer Wagon set???? Answer (Northcoast Miniatures, small firm out of California). But the Trophy original is exceptional. Also, another neat one was the WW1 Lorry with working Searchlight!
