Steamboat and Trophy Auction (1 Viewer)

The seller seems to be interesting. She has some jazz Lp's and a whole lot of clothes as well as a Conte Playset for auction.

Gentleman,
I am curious to see what this goes for. My understanding has always been that Les T. of Trophy and Jim H were very close, so I would assume that as Gideon indicated this is a rare bird indeed. I am very tempted to jump in on this as we all know what the Trophy Gunboats sell for (Leopard, etc), there are only so many.

Now, the issues are 1. breakage in shipment as between the boat and case, that is big risk. 2. Just trying to move this think could cause big issues.

I have a feeling though, this one is being eyed by serious collectors and it will go for a very large premium, should be an interesting ride.

PS, It could be quite a number of us going against each other!!!

What or who qualifies as a "serious collector"

Hi Damian, my serious comment meant folks who know what this piece is and what it is truly worth and...........willing to drop the investment it will take to secure it...:D

Not sure I have reached the "serious" point, I figure if I keep delaying my decision, the bidding will reach a point where I will rule myself out and then won't have to worry about it!

Beautiful boat...

What a wonderful ship! I am sure the pictures do not do it justice. If one of you guys gets this , how about some pictures. Good luck to you all.:)

I have posted some pictures of this wonderful boat on the Trophy thread. It is interesting to see how the figures that come with the boat are slightly different.

It is now over a grand and three days to go.
Good luck

I want to say that this went for $1100.00 to $1200.00 the last time I saw one these ships....

I just saw the auction. Wow! That's someone with some serious toy soldier money.

See, I told you this would be a serious collector's auction!!!!!!! :D

No, too rich for my blood. If it was the CSA Leopard, then I might actually consider it.....................for about 15 secs!!

I love the boats, but that is an awful lot to spend on 1 piece. Beautiful piece nonetheless.

Looks like $2,551 takes it. Buyer is Spanish, buys a lot of K & C.

He is a real gentleman. Always a pleasure to do business with him. I sent an email to congrat him for that acquisition.

I wish them the best of luck with shipping overseas. I really cross my fingers and pray that it shows up in excellent condition.

Yes, I seem to recall selling him some things in past as well. I'd love to see what his collection looks like.

I've noticed a lot of the nicest pieces on ebay are now going to European buyers, largely because of the dollar-Euro situation I imagine. Which is only fair considering how long North America was gobbling up the world's treasures.
