Got my newest Gauls today...
and am delighted again to see that John is now using steel sword blades...
I personally prefer these over the cast metal blades...
as they can be thinner (more realistic scale wise)...
and are stronger in my opinion...
I would consider this an upgrade and hope all his figures will come with steel weapons in the future...

the figures are pretty awesome too!

But a little lethal when handling the figure, I treat mine with respect after a few reminders have happened.^&grin, Robin.

hehehe...yes...you're right Robin...
they remind me of my diabetes lancets for pricking my finger...
a little sharp if mishandled...
but I like them better...

Matt...
yes I do...
on an island...
but I'll just hit them with some industrial automotive anti-rust spray...
that should keep them good...^&grin

BGC-30 apparently incorporates the new type of material as well:

Quite sharp, indeed.

And careful when you're unpacking the Dom Perignon, as the four bottles are loose in their crate. I BARELY noticed them, including one that slipped out and emitted a faintly audible "tap" on my desk. They'd be painfully easy to lose.
