Really an excellent solution to the former landing gear problem:salute::....Shows what can be done when we give it some thought.^&grin

Thanks for the pictures of the fix, seems pretty easy, just curious what did you use for the metal pin? Also, how fragile is it to drill the wing and wheel component? Thanks, Pete

Hi Pete,

I did the conversion on Wayne's plane and yes, it was relatively easy to do.

Firstly I accurately measured the location of where I needed to drill for the pins.
This was about 1/3 the way from magnet to rear, on the centreline of the landing gear assembly.
You will notice that there is also a hole forward of the magnet, I only did this on one wheel, but didn't pin it as the rear pin is sufficient.

I then force a sewing pin point into that mark as a guide for the drill to bite into, as I didn't want it to slip and go out of position.

Drilling into the landing gear is fine, as its solid resin, but you need to be really careful only to drill through the lower wing as its hollow and you don't want to break through the top of the wing.

I then fitted pin, made of wire, into the hole with Supa Glue and when it was dry, fitted the undercarriage.

The STUKA will not stand up and won' fall off its undercarriage if touched, and can also be dis assembled to pack into the box.
The magnets are a great way of holding up the undercarriage, but the pin is needed for stability.

I did this on both STUKAs for Wayne, so he was really happy with the result, and now its been taken on board by Figarti, so I must be a innovator as well as inventor and craftsman ^&confuse ^&grin :tongue:

John

Just saw this post and yes, you should have patented it or at the very least, got a commission from Figarti! {sm2}{sm3}

Great job by the way!

Tom
