Stuka!!! (1 Viewer)

Guys,
Just about recovered from the show, here's some answers to the questions raised.

Why only 6?
I really liked the paint version of the Immelman staffel with the yellow cowling so thought I'd have some made as a tester, I didn't think it prudent to pay for a run of 100 with the Rudel's and winter version out there.
The winter version is all set to ship to Matt at Hobby Bunker and me at Grey Goose so I guess orders can be placed now.

Magnets etc.,
The first Stuka was designed with removable wings primarily because of the strain put on the completed setup with the gull wings. It simply wouldn't have survived shipping ( which I think has been other potential manufacturers' concern) So Simon ( thank you ) is right it's purely a shipping concern and gives a flatter edge to the foam insert therefore better protection.
The magnets are very strong and actually "pull" the pieces into the exact position required. I would go as far as to say that I will probably glue the undercarriage to the body (as well as the magnets) 'cause of course the stuka had fixed undercarriage anyway.

Desert Version
Howard ( missed you for a beer by the way it was like a desert where we were) and Brad, who knows? Not my decision, it would seem logical but maybe with Rudel's , the winter version and the 6 specials we are Stuka'd out?

By the way did anyone spot that in my setup the 3 stukas were descending on some poor innocent little girl.
Heartless those Nazis!!;)

Regards
Clive

Missed opportunity to tie in with the FL collectors. The unit fought at Stalingrad

Looking at these in London at the weekend the paint job is just fantastic, not sure if ' blended ' is the right word somehow but they look very realistic indeed. I also think the magnets are an excellent idea and surely must improve shipping and packaging. Pleasure to see you on Saturday as always Clive, you know in June for the symposium no excuses will be accepted......you gotta join us in the pub mate!^&grin{bravo}}

Lawrence,
I did manage to bring home another dozen or so camels.
I think if Mrs Goose was really getting upset it would be me in the firing line vs the little girl!!

Wayne, Infraction?? Would that be abn honour to be a member of that glorious club?.
Are you really saying " You can never have too many Stukas" ;)

Rob, I know your game, get me to the bar whilst Simon sneaks to the stand and persuades Sue to sell everything at £10 a pop.
( Mind you she'd not take much prompting if it meant she'd have less to lug to the van.)

Now that I think about it, Hans Rudel himself was a first responder to the Russian 11/19 breakthrough north of the city. He commented on flying over the rifleless Romanians fleeing across the snowy steppe

Noted.

I have SO managed to avoid the temptation to add any aircraft to my collection, but that winter Stuka is so very tempting-a great looking piece.

Chaps,

As I drive down to the London Show, I have asked a friend to post this exciting news:

Terrorizing helpless civilians and soldiers with its infamous wailing siren, the Junkers Ju 87 or “Stuka” became the symbol of German air power and the Blitzkrieg victories of early WWII. With the great precision of dive bombing, the Stuka supported the rapidly advancing columns of German tanks in their “Lightning War” tactics, cutting roads, smashing bridges, destroying supply convoys and installations, attacking ground forces of all types, cracking fortified positions, and even sinking ships of all sizes. However, the Battle of Britain shattered the myth of the Stuka by showing its slow speed and lack of maneuverability made it vulnerable against well-organized and determined fighter opposition. Following the great success of its first Stuka, Figarti Miniatures proudly introduces the early war versions of the Stuka, with a clear, moveable canopy showing a detailed cockpit and the fine detail that Figarti is known for. Each set comes with a removable 500 kg bomb and two wing gas tanks that are attached by magnets and removable. The first is Figarti’s “Winter Stuka” (ETG-089), which displays the layer of white paint added to the Stukas of 2nd Staffel of St.G. 1 during the winter of 1941.

At the London Show, I will also have five specially painted Stukas of the yellow nose and black dog insignia of Stukageschwader (St.G.) or "Dive Bomber Squadron" 2 “Immelmann,” which is famous for the sinking of two old Russian battleships, October Revolution and Marat, one by Hans Rudel. There are only six of this version made.

Not a Stuka fan but that one looks really really good.

Edit; using my "smart phone" and am now seeing that there is more than one. But they do look great.
