I wonder how many collectors realise that, The War along the Nile, Nile Campaign, Gordon Relief Expedition and The Sudan War are actually all the same war?

How can someone not realize this?

Did someone ask you about it?

No, it's just that I read post where collectors say they would like to see something made, and I've already made it for Heritage. They either don't realise that they would match or they don't like my figures. It couldn't possibly be the latter, could it? :)

You make great figures but a lot of collectors don't really know that much about them as you don't advertise like KC,FL,JJD TCS,etc.

Martin,

Many I bet.... kkkkkk.......the way the manufacturers market the sets, on purpose depicting different Regiments of the same incident.....give the " historical" aspect of separate events and not that set the scenario is the same .......And on doing so pry on the non history savvy....:cool::cool::..historical background and knowledge adds to the fun of collecting.....
Cheers

I just went to the website and the figures look great, but to be honest i didn't know they were the same war.

And the first campaign where Australians (in their one unit) served outside of Australia. Also Canadians but they were actualy civilians, contracted because of their expertise with river navigation.

Just like the Napoleonic wars......it went on for so long that many of the armies went through uniform changes during the conflict. So, depending on the time or area, some diorama makers can end up using figures that were OK for the earlier Peninsular battles but unsuitable for Waterloo (with some exceptions) The same logic can be used for Abu Klea to Omdurman.

Hi Johnboy,
Exactly....on your example of stretching ......
Yes some collectors can run in the historical mistakes that a keen eye can spot........
As pointed the two key factors .....while the first expedition into the Sudan many troops went in khaki, others were still in their Red coats....all overseas troops carried Martin Henry rifles..Now by the time of Omdurman....all troops were khaki clad, the rifles were now the Lee Martin with greater firing capacity and no longer single shot leaver actions as the Henrys.......and the Maxim Machine gun was used.......
That are some of the main reasons that when the Brits hit hard on the Mahadi´s capital and finished them off.......the dioramas will stand out....as well as to the artillery used...the weaponary and uniforms had drastically changed from the first expedition into hell to save Gordon Pasha....

Omdurman was that late, it was a separate campaign. That's why were doing it as a different range.

Hi Martin,
I have recently gone to the Maison Militaire looking for the Sudan Campaigns series...but could not find them! Has Ken given up on the series?
Cheers

Hi guys!

Here are some photos form Heritage's Sudan figures. The first is form Ken's London Show tables and the rest from my collection.

Hello
I sent a query via the website and did not get a response.-

I had the same experience, however, I was interested in purchasing figures in the Boxer range.
