Sudan Square (1 Viewer)

Those bases look the ticket Pete, I decided against them only because I felt 12 would be required to fit my scene and from that aspect, felt it was not good value. Looking at your square it's hard to see how you would need many more figures, being already fairly intense with action. Are you hoping for more releases & what would you like? For my part, starting to think the Nile/Sedan series might be done. In fairness I have the Britain's & Heritage range as supplements. Wonderful display^&cool, Robin.

Hi Robin,
Thanks for the comments. I agree, the set up is pretty much complete I think. Not much space left! I'll just wait and see what else is released. Hopefully John will release some more RMLI figures. I've ordered the Britains hand to hand sets, I'm sure I can squeeze them in somewhere. I'd like to get some more Heritage Camel Corps/Naval ratings etc on camels, for a different diorama. At the end od the day its all down to money and space!

Hi,
It's a while since I posted any updates. This time the updates aren't extra figures, but a few 'other' acquisitions I've managed to pick up.

The first is a Victorian print of the Battle of El-Teb:

The second and third are a couple of Mahdist shields! Actually they are made of fibre glass...but were used as film props in the Four Feathers film (recent version). My brother had one in his loft! My nephew bought it at a living history event a few years back, the other came from a company selling ex film props.

Hope you enjoy the pictures anyway.

Sorry about the reflection of the camera flash in the photo's.

Great backup items Pete, certainly brings the whole diorama into relevance with these. Nice. Robin.

Thanks, Robin, Mike. I hope that John will release some more figures for this series...one day maybe?

It has been a while, and I know John is up to his neck in WW1, but would anybody else like to see more releases in this range? I'd personally like to see some more RMLI and Egyptians and Sudanese troops......

AH!, The SUDAN, Endless beautiful desert. The ideal setting for ground warfare. Where armies could manuver and hold formations in the wide open spaces. I love the 19th century warfare in the desert where man and beast were employed in large battles and the victor was always the most disciplined. That is a wonderful setup Pete and I really like those old color prints which have fascinated me since childhood. Yes I agree that expansion of this range is a must to keep the collector looking and wanting more. Even to the fact of enlarging and adding to exisiting dioramas. Thanks for sharing your photos.
