Bullet ridden and covered in dirt, the operational history of this ME109 comes to an end on a fine summer's day in a field in Sussex, in the south of England.

The pilot has no choice but to surrender to his captors and his circumstances. He is eagerly swooped upon by a local Bobby and a veteran of the Home Guard; both of whom are elated to come face to face with the enemy.

And the fate of the ME109? It may be scrapped or exhibited around the country to raise money and morale for the war effort. Either way, there is one more empty seat in a Luftwaffe mess and one less Nazi pilot for Dowding to worry about.

Very cool Rob, but I can barely make out the details because the photos are too small . . .

Very nice Rob, Can I make a suggestion though when you are in Photobucket and then you go to create the codes there are two types, one says

IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards - recommended

other one says

IMG images for message boards thumbnails

If you choose the second one that will allow people to click on the pictures here on the forum and make them bigger.

Hope that makes sense and doesn't offend.

:)

Sorry guys,should be ok now.

What a great display - did you make it yourself?

What is the base made from ? It really looks good.

Thanks Ron thats very kind of you.Yes i made this on an old and slightly battered Winter Build-a-rama base.I gave it some earth coloured painting and then using products from JG Miniatures and Scenics i built it up.Thats why i mentioned Hob-e-Tac in your excellent Tree thread the other say,i'd just finished using it on this!;)

It really is fun isn't it.I had a ball weathering and beating up the ME109.The best bit was using a chef's blow torch to heat up a screwdriver to make the bullet holes.I'll let you into a little secret here.I first did the bullet holes on the other side of the plane,i did them in 'lines' like you might see in a film. But on looking online i saw loads of downed Luftwaffe planes and the bullet holes were not like that really, they were sprayed everywhere,so i turned the plane round and started again!;)

Rob

Thanks guys very kind of you all .The ME 109 is a 21st century model, bargain at $9.99!.:)
