Sydney Hostages...Isis? (1 Viewer)

Amazing, three hostages have just managed to escape out the back door by the look of it.........
 
If his intent was to get publicity then he has been successful. Radio been non stop and constant press from PM, Premiers of other states and police etc. Even heard the Federal Justice Minister cut short an overseas visit which seems over the top as plenty of other leaders handling this event.

Not sure if this is a well planned hostage taking as he clearly was not able to secure the premises so that hostages could not escape. Also seems OK with hostages texting out to family. Problem is fatigue factor. Hopefully he just wants the publicity rather than doing anybody actual harm.

As one comment said did he go for the wrong Chocolate shop as Max Brenner (ie Jewish owned and the subject of some protests in the past) seems more obvious than a Lindt shop which is Swiss owned. However I understand the Brenner shop location is in a side road which would not have caused so much disruption as this has.

Hope it ends well.
 
Hostage taker been identified as a self proclaimed Sheikh who has been well known in the past.

Previously wrote to families of soldiers killed in Afghanistan to basically say they deserved it. Current wife pending trial for murdering his previous wife and also something to do with sexual assault of several women.

Muslim spokesman said not even aware if he was Sunni or Shia.

Good news in that there is a twitter Hashtag attracting major hits and it is illridewithyou where Aussies are offering to ride with Muslims who might be worried about travelling on public transport because of this incident. Trending worldwide apparently.
 
This bloke is lower than a cockaroach , what cause or believe can justify this madness? none of course!. Hopefully only the person to get hurt in this folly will be this poor excuse for a human being, the sooner the world is rid of these Jihadi fruit loops the better, it just makes ones blood boil!.......................:mad:

6 or 7 hostages just ran out.
 
Another female also got out.

Police going in and lots of noise of gun fire or flash bangs. He is either dead or captured.
 
Just did a replay of when police went in from the front. Plenty of firing and interesting to see one of the ones who did not enter was still throwing something in after at least 5 gone in. Must also have gone in from back as more came out than went in front.

Just my guess as been a few minutes now but doubt he is coming out alive as otherwise would be on an ambulance by now.
 
Couple of hostages may have been injured as seen on stretchers and going away in ambulance.

Bomb robot going into cafe.

Just mentioned something odd that had been mentioned earlier in the day. Queensland Police Commissioner (ie another state) had briefed cabinet had info about a bomb in the Sydney location. This news came out from cabinet and embarrassed NSW police. Just odd that QLD commissioner would brief politicians about info he had about something in another state.

I must offer a correction. It's not a tragedy. A tragedy would be a car careening into the shop because its brakes failed, a train collision because the driver was texting or fell asleep at the controls. This is an act of terrorism, a crime, an evil, committed deliberately.

Still not said so but a lot of rounds were fired when they entered and I would doubt he is alive. Seems police went in as something was escalating inside.

It is hard to say if any hostages been killed or seriously injured.

Commentator who is former police just suggested hostage taker may have had some sort of device on his body which might explain delay in moving him out.
 
Going to be interesting to hear what police say about the last shots fired as there was a few about 2 minutes after initial shoot out. I think medics were already inside at that point.
