Two confirmed dead and one is the gunman. One hostage appears to have a gunshot wound to shoulder. Looks like about two or three hostages were still inside at time of all the firing.

Hostage taker was on bail for case involving over 40 sexual assault offences arising from his work as a "healer".

Came from Iran as a refugee in late 90's.

A real piece of work and as commentator said hard to negotiate with this type of character. Just my own thought but suspect he knew the upcoming sexual assault cases would be the end of his role as a Sheihk or healer. Lone wolf type who ran out of options and was heading down a certain path.

Police knew his background and no option but to go in when they did.

With that final post it is time to go to bed.

Been watching live coverage but police entry no doubt online all over the place.

Going to be interesting to hear what police say about the last shots fired as there was a few about 2 minutes after initial shoot out. I think medics were already inside at that point.

I see a plain clothed officer took some bullet fragments in the face too, must have been hell for the hostages with all the flash-bangs going off!!

Terrible, just terrible watching this unfold in US. Then another knuckle head(s) goes into a school in Pakistan and kills kids. These "fighters" are shameless cowards who take the lives in the name of you know who. I loathe these sick bastardos, I really do.
