Last week a Texas grandmother was arrested just south of Fort Worth Texas for not complying with instructions given by a police officer. The woman was stopped
for speeding, doing 60 mph in a 50 mph zone. during the routine traffic stop the police officer asked the driver for her License and Insurance and she asked why and
refused to comply......stating I will give it to you when I want. The Police officer asked her several more times to comply and she refused.
This all resulted in her being physically pulled out of her car and arrested. This story can go either direction as far as opinions go.
What is yours ??????????????????

".......The lawyer said the woman was returning home from playing the piano at church when the incident occurred......"

The lady should have shown the licence right away.

Cripes! I once addressed a Massachusetts State Trooper as "officer" and he got all huffy and "what I was doing out in the middle of the day" and speeding? (I was.) I was on the way to my lawyer's office to sign papers to buy a house actually.

Hate to think what the trooper would have done if I was in Texas and had my hat on backwards.:wink2:

Because she is a 60 year old grandma does that mean she is above the law?
Probablly if she complied she would have gotten a warning to slow down and then released. However by her actions the officer was left with no options, comply or get locked up!
I was in that business for 40 years and that,s how I would have handled it.

seems some stupid people live in texas!!! Simple enough to do as your told and accept simple commands. depends on what is meant by dragged and how much force was used as to whether it was innapropriate. I have seen some very fierce women and, some older people that are very beligerant and physically strong, both male and female. The officer should have been complied with she could have had a weapon or similar. The little old lady etc image is often used tomake out police used excessive force. That will be down to any investigation conducted regarding the affair.

Its not like people don't know what is going to happen if you cross US police. I have seen it in ride alongs I have done and, in person when the crackerjacks try to fight or similar in the states.

Cause in the UK there would have been a stern scolding by the constable and a strongly worded letter to the Times from the Granny.:wink2:
My brother is small town policeman and it's basically keeping the kids moving and coraling old folks that wander away. These IS special training for the latter.

The Granny was forced out of the car but I agree she is just like anyone else......follow instruction given by law enforcement and thats it. She probably would have
gotten a warning if she simply showed her license and insurance as initially requested. She pulled out the senior citizen "I'll do whatever I want card" but in this case
the patrol officer was not buying it for a minute. They had her daughter on T.V. explaining how the cop should have given her more time to comply but, on the video
it shows she was non compliant and very confrontational. {sm2}

When you get pulled over by a police officer, it's probably a good idea to follow his or her instructions and dial down the attitude, having an attitude with a police officer is not a good idea.

Not sure what is more shocking; a 60 year old had an attitude problem or that Scott got busted for speeding, didn't know you could get a prius to exceed the speed limit.

You really do learn something new everyday.

I think the policemen must be a bigot or sexist.

Heck, you do have show picture ID’s to vote so why would you have to show a pictured driver license ID to drive. After all it’s disenfranchising and abrogates one’s right to drive without harassment.

Common sense is like beauty, it's all in the eye of the beholder......What’s next????

Hello Carlos, You lucky dog.............Going to Chicago {bravo}}

So how often do you have to buy a new squirrel to stick under the hood of that eggbeater anyway Scott?

I think you're stalking the wrong man. Sorry to bust yer bubble. 2005 Ford Focus wagon with 160,000 miles on it. Gets me to my job inspecting florescent light fixtures. 30 mpg. 60 miles round trip. Nice storage area for tools, the kids stuff, camping gear.

So......Do you have a good cop story?

What's WITH Texas anyway? Freedom loving people with authoritarian religion, laws, and business.
I hear Austin is pretty hip.

Ford Focus; the older brother of the Prius.

Same church, different pew.

No good cop stories, I don't speed.

But next time you get pulled over tooling around in your Focus, dump a bottle of water in your lap and tell the officer you were rushing to get to a bathroom.

Guaranteed you'll get out of the ticket, plus the officer will have a classic story to tell all the other officers. And the way you say "officer" can be interpreted as you having an attitude, so check that next time. I should know, my Father was BPD for 37 years and that's what he tells me.

And I'm not stalking anybody, so take it down a couple of notches.

Good story about the water George, never hard that one before.
I know I would give the guy a pass, if he was to be arrested who would want to do a search of him with those wet pants!
See you in 4 days.

By giving it a whirl, you'd be the laughing stock of the entire police department, but you'd weasel your way out of the ticket, unless the officer really wanted to rake you over the coals.

Packed for the show yesterday; how in the name of God am I going to shoehorn all of the boxes into the van tomorrow is beyond me, but I say that every year and always manage to make it work................

Calm down there George. It's just the "Internets."

Just to let you know Scott, the Barszo Colonials and British AWI figures will be at your dealer of choice shortly after the big show this week as Ron is wholesaling them right after the show ends, Colonials available in tan and blue, British in red.........................
