with this virus and the practice of social distancing...
I don't expect any new shows in the near future...

HBO on Demand to the rescue...

I just finished Boardwalk Empire...
loved me some Nucky Thompson and Gyp Rosetti...
I had seen it before...but it was great to watch it again...

just started the Wire...
which I had also sen years ago...great show...another gritty HBO series...

both of these shows are 5-6 seasons...
so it keeps me entertained for my tv jonesing...

HBO on Demand is stacked with great series...
lots of stuff to re-watch for the next year or so...

Band of Brothers...
Ballers...
Curb Your Enthusiasm...
Deadwood...
Eastbound & Down...
Game of Thrones...
Oz...
Rome...
Silicone Valley...
The Deuce...
Sopranos...

if anybody can recommend some really good series that I might have missed...
you got my attention...

Mike try Lifes to Short, a great comedy. I also enjoyed Veep, another comedy.

Gary...
thanks...
I have not seen "Life is Short"...
I will give it a shot...

I have watched "Veep"...it was pretty good...

HBO is the king of drama/adventure/crime shows...

Did you watch Outsider. That was good. Also McMillions was great.True Detective, the 3rd season. There is also a doc.on the Atlanta Child Murders.I haven't seen it but was told it was good.

Mark...

thank you...

I have not seen Outsider...but will check it out on your recommendation...

I watched about 4-5 episodes of MacMillions...it was really slow moving...what a scam though...unreal!

True Detective I have seen...but would watch it again...

Atlanta Child Murders...I have never been big on documentaries...but will give it a shot...

HBO has so many great series you could spend a year watching them...

It's hard for me to watch something I have already seen unless it's years later but I have watched Band of Brothers 3 times.Great great show.

I just finished Boardwalk Empire a few days ago...I saw it when it was first produced...but enjoyed it this time just as much as the first time...

The Wire is a great show. I bought it as a boxed set and is 80 hours. Fun to see two of the main characters played by Brits.

Just finished Ray Donovan and now into Yellowstone. Being taken for a ride to a train station has a whole new meaning.

The Wire is gritty...Omar makes the show...he played Chalky in Boardwalk Empire...when he whistles "the Farmer in the Dell"...everybody runs...I like the court scene when he outplays the prosecution's attorney...

can't go wrong with Ray Donovan..."the bag or the bat"...and "who's the ding now" are great scenes...

Yellowstone is great too...I like Rip's character...and especially like the character that plays Costner's daughter...the boutique scene where the American Indian wife is accused of stealing was a great scene...

Not sure if it's on HBO or not Mike but what about "THE SHIELD" just started watching it again and now up to Series 4. The series with Glenn Close as the Captain is superb

Stay safe

Working my way through two box sets of ROME, really into given my current collecting of Romans. Inspires one. Robin.

Martyn...I remember The Shield...it wasn't on HBO...not sure what channel it was on...but it wasn't HBO...by the time I started watching it...I had already missed the first couple of seasons...that seemed like a long time ago...

Robyn...I enjoyed Rome...it was a great show...it's on my rewatch list...I liked Titus Pullo and Caesar...that was a bloody show...lots of skin too...

Liked the first 2 seasons but when they killed Jimmy the show just wasn't the same.

Has anyone mentioned HBO's ''Succession''. - Great series. Looking forward to the third season release. Story revolves around a powerful patriarch led publishing/media company whose family members are all playing for the top spot, currently occupied by the aging, manipulative father.

Ken...I have been watching the power struggle to inherit the business in that dysfunctional family...what a bunch of goobers...dad and the siblings are all nuts...I love the show...but I feel I need a degree in economics to understand all the dialog...

I used to work in M & A (Mergers and Acquisitions) and I love the show. Having a little background helps you appreciate what’s going on, not to mention that some of the people remind me of people I came across in my work.

they are portrayed as a shrewd family...cut throat and double crossing...promises made for power and discarded...the father unwilling to relinquish his role...lifestyles of the rich and infamous...

Succession was the right name for the show...

The father reminds me of a high ranking officer in the company I used to work with, rest his soul. We were all terrified of him and I mean terrified. There are lots of stories but one will suffice. His office was next to that of the General Counsel. One day the GC wanted to see me for some reason I can’t remember. I walked over to the Executive Wing; he was still in a meeting so I had a seat. Meanwhile next door this person is dressing down the company’s comptroller. Man, I had never in my life heard somebody ripped like that and I’ve heard and experienced some bad ones. Finally, his secretary looks over at me smiles and gets up and closes the door. A minute later the victim — who I knew fairly well — comes out beet red and I mean beet red, looking straight ahead and avoiding everybody. It was unforgettable.

I'm not sure if it's HBO but my wife and I have LOVED The Americans - it is excellent! We've just finished season 5 and have the last one ahead of us. We're saving it up!

We don't have it 'on demand' but it reminds me I have a DVD set of the last 2 series of this show, loved the first couple of series when broadcast on 'Free to Air' so I better catch up ???
