Louis, as always a trip to your Toy Soldier Symposium, collection and historical military memorabilia home is always a joy to behold. Sad that March weather extremes prevented a larger turnout, but as far as I'm concerned it was a great time, and definitively aided in inspiring me to get back to working on dioramas(though smaller), and vignettes, after a sabatical and move from NY to Delaware. It was a great pleasure seeing Rich Schuster again and traveling to his home for a view of his incredible collection, and chat about wooden stick lacrosse we both played. I finally met Marc(The Baron), who is such a wealth of toy soldier history and brand knowledge, it's incredible to hear. Also a shout out to Elliot who, who also does more than collect, but also creates and paints toy soldiers. The food was good, the company was good, and the toy soldiers were exemplary. A good time was had by those who attended. And I looking forward to the next time,

Sincerely.

Joe

Second that, Joe! And I hope you'll make it to our show, the MFCA show, on May 4th and 5th.

Prost!
Brad

Guys, it was my pleasure!:smile2: I had so much fun talking history and toy soldiers and remembering Larry. I just hope we have a bigger turnout next year. I'm thinking of moving the Symposium to the same weekend as the MFCA Show (formerly Valley Forge, now in Philadelphia). As I recall, the show (which I believe is the biggest on the East Coast) is Friday and ends by Saturday afternoon, so we can caravan from the show to the Symposium, do a welcoming dinner Saturday night for everyone who comes to both the Show and Symposium, and have the big events Sunday. If people are coming from out of town, they can fly into New York (LaGuardia or JFK Airports) a day or two early, I can pick them up, get them settled in their hotel, then I and a couple of other local collectors can caravan them down to the show. By tying the MFCA Show to the Symposium, maybe we can return to the days when the Symposium was attended by collectors, dealers and manufacturers from around the globe!^&cool^&cool What say you Howard (Northgatewoods), Clive (Lurchio), Carlos (Sentapua), Andy, and the rest of the Treefroggers from around the globe? I'm don't mind incurring the expense and difficulty of planning and executing the Symposium, so if I build it, will they come?:salute::

That's a great idea, Louis! And thanks for remembering the brand ;)

It's appropriate to discuss the subject of collectors and dealers getting together in person, in light of the discussion currently going on in the wake of the show in Edison yesterday, the low vendor presence, and the low collector turnout. A point made in the discussion is how important it is, and how much fun it is, to meet in person, even when we recognize how easy it is to buy remotely online, and how fast we share information online. The Internet still cannot replace personal contact.

Prost!
Brad

LOL Guys, it's on the calendar. But I'll probably only go for 1 day, so you tell me what the best day is for both of you. And I hopefully will be picking something up from George Guerrero.

Joe

I'll be there both days, since I'm on the show committee and help work the show ;) I'll see you whichever day you choose.

Also, we run a hospitality suite Friday and Saturday night, so you might consider sticking around either evening.

Prost!

Louis mate,
If I had the time and the money, the GLW and I would attend each year the Texas Show, Chicago Show and your Symposium. Your hospitality is always highly rated. At my age now, a 18 hour trip from Melbourne to LA and then a 6 hour trip to NY are really taxing. Plus the fact that we have table displays of King & Country at 17 Shows nationally in Australia each year and the number is rising. Getting some free time is not easy.
In saying all that, still on my bucket list is another trip to beautiful San Antonio, a trip to Gettysburg Park and a trip down to Jacksonville Florida to sit on the front porch of my good mate young Tim Tyler of Troops Of Time and drink his beer.^&grin^&grin
I haven't given up on you Louis cobber but as I mentioned before its a long way to travel. I sometimes get a big laugh when I read on the Forum that some of the members mention that they have a long way to travel in the U.S. from State to State. I wish I had their problem.:smile2:
Until we meet again my friend stay well. Cheers Howard

Louis, can’t tell you much I wish to make it next time! Count me in for the 2019 edition! :wink2:

Come on now, we both know the time is the real issue...............;)..................

Overseas travel is expensive, it's not only Howard, Bill Gates and Warren Buffet have also trimmed their travel expenditure.

That would be too long a weekend for me so not something I would be interested in.

Sweet George, Oh so Sweet{sm4} Maybe you could come down to Jacksonville and sit on the porch with young Tim and I and drink some cold beer.^&grin
Cheers Howard

Amen to that, maybe if we can get George to come, Tim can help him with his accent and put a little twang in that scorching New Englander English!

Just kidding George, I know you gotta have some y'all in ya!

Tom, a couple of factors, I’m at the show in Pennsylvania on Friday (and maybe Saturday if I want to purchase one of the artistic creations) and then you’re asking that I commit myself to going to LI on Saturday, which for me is a three hour round trip and traveling on the GW Bridge and LIE? Thank you but no thanks. No offense to Louis and Rich but I loathe LI, maybe because I went to parts of elementary school and HS there. It’s bad enough if I take the GW to go see the Mets play. That’s the limit for me. But if you forget all that you’re asking me to be away for the whole weekend. My wife is understanding but there are limits.

I know I am just raggin ! Ya, agree, probably too long a weekend for me as that starts Thursday night, then Friday, then Sat, by that time I am ready to come home!!

Louis - you may need to rethink this one!
Tom

Also, doesn’t Jim Hillestadt have an open house that weekend?
