My intention is to build some houses for my Conte Vikings.
The walls, doors and windows are easy.
However, I need some suggestions to make the Thatched Roof.
This afternoon, I visit local Craft Stores.
Thanksmuch

You can get packs of cheap craft paint brushes and use the bristles. Remove the metal ferrule, to remove the bundle of bristles. On many of the brushes, the bristles are attached or adhered to a membrane or a coating and can be "unrolled" into a long strip. Attach these to the roof of your build, starting with the bottom course and working your way up to the ridge, just as on a real roof.

Prost!

Some people also use strips of teddy bear fur, layed out horizontally, coated in thinned down white glue and combed before the glue sets.

At Hobby Lobby, I found small bales of real hay for $3.00.
They will be attached to the roof with Elmer's Glue.

If that is not successful, I will use the items
that you suggest.

The Plumbers Hemp looks promising.
Tomorrow , we visit Home Depot.
Thanks again

I make mine the same way and then rattle can it with some cream/beige, then i wash it with some diluted black paint for that aged look.

Coconut fiber out of hanging baskets works well as well.

Another use for those brushes is to make upright grass in dioramas, too. One of the guys in our local modeling club recently used them in a StuG diorama that he made.

Prost!
