We are very pleased to officially present the first release of our American Revolution figure range, the Continental Militia as they appeared at the battles in and around Boston in 1775. These 20 different figures will allow you to accurately recreate the very earliest form of the Continental Army of the American Revolution. So raise your troops and stand fast in defense of Bunker Hill or turn the redcoats away at Lexington-Concord! These figures will be shipping late June 2010. We sincerely hope you enjoy them!

These figures are superb. Can't wait for the British. Such great work. -- Al

Matt-
This is such a welcome announcement, I can't even explain it! My preorder is in and I am now counting the days till the UPS guy arrives. Now I know the website says late June delivery, but I just hope to see them by July 4th, which seems fitting!

Again, thanks to you and your staff for such a great release.

Noah

The painting is unbelievable good, congratulation Matt, good job.

These figures look extraordinary! I really enjoy the 18th Century, those uniforms and flags, but also the Militias, Rangers and Indians (in America of course) especially the FIW. I am sure these will be a success, especially in the US market.
Have to stay out of this one though, my hands are already full:D.

I can see why you like them Noah! Enjoy!

Oh my  I will have to start off slowly due to budget concerns but I will probably be pre-ordering AWI001, AWI002, AWI003, AWI004 and AWI010 in order to create a small command set. Great looking figures - kudos Matt

With the full view pictures availible on FL's website, the more I love this series. I have been looking over the different figures and am consistenly amazed by the variety of them. Not only the obvious variety of dress, but the differing types of muskets they have as well. This release is what I have been waiting for and FL has delivered in a major way.

Thanks again Matt, for such a well thought out release.

Just literally discovered these new figures by chance and I am blown away at how good they are, I really wanted to display Militia v Redcoats on my diorama (I have the x6 K&C militia figures but as good as they are also, use in a diorama as a firing line is limited).

I can now make an impressive militia line with these and will very much look forward to future releases and there I was thinking I was a K&C only for life!!:D

Can I double check with an FL collector do you have to paint the figures yourself as I saw grey unpainted figures on the website. I am **** at painting and this could take the wind out of my sails if they are paint yourself!

The figures in their American Revolution and their other 1/30 / 60mm lines are all painted. They show some preliminary sculpts before painting and their smaller war gaming figures come unpainted but this line, as well as their Napoleonic, Eastern Front, Samurai and ACW lines come completely finished and very nicely painted I might add. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with these but you may indeed become addicted. That tends to happen with their figures.;)

As Bill said in the last post, you certainly don't have to paint the First Legion figures. Cornwallis, I know you are a huge AWI fan, so when my preorder of FL's Colonial Militia arrive, I send you some pics if you like. I will also include some comparison shots next to K & C's militia figures.

Are those figures NICE! Great selection of poses and civilian clothing.

Just curious...brass bands on "French looking musket"

AWI011page1.jpg

"No. 8: French Aid Influence, c. 1777-1783
This arm’s three American brass barrel bands with their rear-side springs copied the iron bands on the newly arriving French aid muskets. A British Long Land Brown Bess 1756 pattern, in turn, provided the lock (marked, “EDGE 1756”), trigger guard, side plate, escutcheon and barrel, which was shortened from 46" to approximate the French length of 443⁄4". The colonists supplied a chestnut stock, a simplified butt plate resembling the English stepped design, and a hand-forged replacement cock still holding a crude locally knapped flint. As with many rebel muskets, no sling swivels were provided. Use as a hunting gun after the war is also apparent from the thinning of the bayonet stud to create a front sighting blade and a later dovetail near the breech to add a rear sight."
