The Battle of Gingindlovu was fought on 2 April 1879

Among the British forces present were the 60th Rifles and Naval Brigade , which included the Royal Marine Light Infantry and sailors from HMS Shah and HMS Boadicea. The Naval Brigade had several Gatling guns and a Rocket Battery. The NB Rocket Battery was different to the Royal Artillery version, the NB used tubes whereas the RA used troughs.

Here are the 60th Rifles, with their Commanding Officer Colonel F.V.Northey who lost his life in the action

Wow Martyn, now that's an impressive collection and great photos. Excellent detail, right down to the individual rockets in the boxes. Love the closeup shots. Very nice. Chris

Hi Martyn, Nice Rocket Tubes looks like an early version of a Recoiless Rifle! {bravo}}

Martyn,

Great display and wonderful collection, as usual. I notice that your 60th Rifles don't have the black Maltese Crosses on their helmets like the Trophy figures do in my Ulundi display. Do you know why?

Hi Mike

Many thanks :salute:: I'm not sure why the Maltese Cross is missing, probably my fault for not specifying it on my order.

Another interesting scene Martyn, you have a fine collection, not lacking in anything. Robin.
