I have always loved dead/wounded figures and captured figures of any and all variety, however particularly love second world war ones! Last years American battle of the bulge was the start I think of the trend, the stretcher team! Great to see some wounded figures and medics for the bulge! And not to forget the captured german and mp set!^&grin

The German winter releases saw the 'cold feet warm boots set' with a dead american and a german putting his old boots to good use! There was also the german set of two which saw one german figure with an american helmet at his feet which goes great beside the cold feet set! Finally last year's German soldier with captured ration box is a set which I would associate with a 'captured' theme!^&grin

This year (might have been early last year now I think about it!) There was the wss sets: dead hitlerjugend, captured medic and wounded, and the german figure with another on his back! The dead figure is now discontinued which is a bit of a shock to me as this was not out long, so I am glad I got it!!{eek3}

Then this year saw the captured tommy for the desert, and captured cwt morris truck! I really like this idea!:wink2:
This desert range also saw the release of the dead afrika corps figure!

The ww1 range over the past year and a bit has seen a few hand to hand sets and wounded figures!^&grin

Then this year saw the winter german range start off with another 'captured ration set' and a captured tommy set!^&grin I really like these two sets and hope to add them to the winter collection in 2012!^&grin

Then finally the captured german pilot from the fob range and crashed german plane!^&grin

I really like the direction Andy has been taking with the wounded/dead figures and captured/destroyed vehicles! Am I alone in this or are there others who share my enthusiasm for this?^&grin

Hoping 2012 will be full of captured/medics/wounded/dead germans/americans/allied figures! Paras and infantry and maybe some dead tankers in blown up/captured vehicles!!!^&cool

I agree. Figures depicting captured and dead troops are an important part of many dioramas, but not all. the Battle of the Bulge Diorama that I recently posted here on the forum has captured Americans, a dead G.I. but am lacking some dead and wounded Winter German's.

True, would be good to see some dead winter germans, the ones from the mine laying set and jes make sure he's dead are pretty good!^&grin

Yeah you're not alone Scott, all the recent captured/dead & wounded figures add so much to a dio/display, plus I must mention the FOB civilians and the "desert animals"....fantastic figures.{sm4}

Maybe a few dead cows and the odd dead/dying horse or two.....sounds terrible I know, but there's plenty of Normandy WW2 pic's of GI's etc moving through the Bocage with dead animals everywhere.....just a thought though??^&confuse

Cheers.

I very much agree with this and Scott's original post. I know these figures can be seen as grim I think
some scenes not only look better with dead figures but positively cry out for them. We all know how
terrible the War was and the sacrifices made for us so I don't think we should flinch at these figures.
If I were working on a Omaha beach dio for instance it would be almost an insult not to have
a casualty or two wouldn't it?

Dead , wounded, captured Brits, Germans, US figures are very welcome in my collection, I hope we
see more in 2012

I agree 100%. Some dead BoB Germans would be most welcome. I would also like to see some civilians in winter clothing and yes some dead animals ( horses and cows especially) to fit into the Normandy ( FALAISE !!!!!) and Ardennes dios.
guy:)

The manufacturers have to be complemented for their work as of late but they are still missing the boat on many excellent concepts that have been mentioned time and time again. I am getting very frustrated and if I don't see these constantly asked for concepts come to light in the future I am already looking into producing them myself. It will be a challenge but I am making some inroads. If BSP manages to pull this off we will tolerate nothing but the finest figures ever made.

I sure wouldn't mind if K&C added some "dead figures" to the Crusader/Saracen series...I have only one casualty of a Saracen and only one casualty of a Crusader...

Here are three of my faves, I think these type of figures breath life and realism into dio's, I hope K&C continue to make them now and then;

I agree with this Rob and the others who have commented on the necessity of casualty figures. There are some scenes that just really need them to be realistic.
