The Army of Frederick the Great (3 Viewers)

Thanks all, for the kind comments, and I'm glad you're enjoying them, too!

@Jeff, thanks very much! I do have more Rylit figures, including some SYW Austrians, which are in the pipeline. Rylit's website is http://www.rylit.de/, in case you'd like to see, though Frau Litterscheidt, who runs Rylit, doesn't have much at all from this part of the catalog up online, though a printed catalog is available on request. I have one, and I've been meaning to scan it. But what have you been up to lately? :D The Painting corner has been a little quiet.

Prost!
Brad

I did know you paint glossy, great job, even I am not a glossy guy, but like the final job and the subject.

Regards

Rod.

Hi, everyone! I'd like to add a couple of more figures to the thread. I've been working through my backlog, Austrians, mostly--which will get their own thread when I have enough complete. But I've also finished some more Prussians. I added them to my gallery, and thought they should be added here, too.

First is yet another Stadden casting of a Prussian hussar, which I've finished as another hussar of Kleist's regiment, the Green Hussars:

With a tip of the hat to Jeff, of course!

I also experimented with a different backdrop, so I might as well put that photo here:

It's a piece of dark blue velvet. I think I have to adjust the settings on the camera, though, because it really changes the way the colors of the figures look.

The other figure is a Feldwebel or sergeant of Frederick's Guard, the Regiment Garde:

This is another figure from Rylit's extensive catalog, and has a great pose. From another angle:

Still a lot more on the bench, so look for more to come, including a thread for my collection of figures from Maria Theresia's army. After all, my Prussians need someone to fight ;)

Thanks for looking, prosit!
Brad

Hi Brad,

Those figures are very, very nicely painted. My compliments!

Thanks for posting the photographs. I look forward to seeing the other figures when you have finished them.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

Nice figures there Brad. I like the dark velvet background best with the lighter colours of the Hussar - it really makes him stand out. Looking back through this thread - any chance of you finding a sister for your earlier "pippin seller"?^&grin Keep 'em coming Bach - johnnybach

Hi Brad,

Loved the rylit feldwebel. He looks a little fey... Great pose!

Rgds,
Vic

Nice job, Brad,
I really like the Feldwebel. A great sculpt.

Excellent choice Brad! :wink2:^&grin

I like this thread of yours, (I use to wargame the SYW many years ago) are you going to collect the JJD figures when they are available?

{bravo}}{bravo}}

Jeff :smile2:

Thank you all, gentlemen, for your kind words! I'm glad you enjoy seeing these.

Jeff, thanks, yes, I'm waiting very eagerly for their release--I imagine Konrad is, too ;) . I have one of the prototype grenadiers, and John's new series is going to be excellent. I'm going to add the Frontline series, too.

Prost!

That's correct, Brad :smile2:
As you, I am waiting to see the first few releases make their appearance.
JJ's 7 Years War line is the only line so far for this year that I will attempt to collect complete.

Me too .... Can't wait for this series from JJD, but in the mean time I got some Mesiterzinn Nuremberg 40mm moulds come my way, and I've done some castings, so the first is to be a mounted Prussian 7th Regt Hussar painted in toy gloss finish, so watch out for that.

I am looking forward to see your work with the "Meisterzinn" moulds.
They had quite a variety of poses for the 7 Years War, including an artillery set I believe.
The figures are semi-flat, I recall, and for a good caster and painter they can make for a splendid display of massed Toy Soldiers.
Konrad

Thanks, guys!

John, I have a bunch of Prins August 40mm molds, too, and a bunch of castings. That was one of my early forays into homecasting.

There's a gentleman from Germany who sells Meisterzinn figures on eBay/USA, and bills them as "rare". I always find that amusing, when I see it.

Prost!

SO rare, they have a new website !!!

http://www.meisterzinn.de/

But I have 2 moulds that are no longer listed on the site, an Austrian Pandour flag bearer and a Prussian Genadier loading, so they could be "rare"?

I may paint those 2 next, just to show you some others in the series.

Any chance that you could also show casting them as well as painting John? - Note that I have seen the web-site - which curiously doesn't seem to have any prices. Presumably you have to contact them to find out? johnnybach

The Meisterzinn molds used to be sold in packages, including a couple of ingots or pigs of their brand of casting metal, and the yellow plastic clamps, and I think, a pair of handles, but my memory is fuzzy on them. I have in my stash an eBay find, a little booklet on casting that NMZ used to publish. They're pretty good for producing a tabletop wargaming army.

Prost!
