Had some spare time yesterday, so I decided to finally put together a 20mm Napoleonic diorama for all of you Napoleonic collectors who have be patiently waiting, specifically Jeff from the other side of the pond. Sorry it took so long mate, but better late than never. I promise to do more Napoleonics in the future as well.

On September 6th, 1812, the French army begins their assault on the Russian defenses around the town of Borodino. At 6:00am, the signal is given and the French, led by Davout, make the first attack and storm the Russian lines...........

In the bitter fighting, Davout had his horse killed from under him and was badly bruised. Rather than trying to flank the Russians, Napoleon was committed to a frontal assault and the Russians were up to the task........

Artillery on both sides fired away in support of each others infantry as the fighting grew more and more intense. The French hammered away at the Russians, who held their ground despite being outnumbered..........

The battle dragged on til dark when Kutuzov withdrew from the field; a week later, the French occupied Moscow. The battle was considered a French victory at the cost of close to 70,000 casualties on both sides. The 1812 campaign was far from over..........

George,

Thanks so much, there is no need to apologize, it was well worth the wait :). What a superb battle you have set up there – excellent, your displays always remind me of my wargaming days - shame I live so far away.
What make of figures have you got there?

Jeff

Glad you had some free time on your hands George to bringing us back in time to observe The Battle of Borodino taking place. Thanks George both the diorama and photos are a delight to behold....The Lt.

Thanks Lt for having a look and your positive feedback, been meaning to do this one for a long time.

Jeff, the vast majority of the figures are the old Hinton Hunt brand, simply superb figures, pluse some Qualitycast, some of Hap Jordans figures, RSM figures and Kennington Miniatures...........

I like your work Warrior  and you have a nice collection of Miniatures.

Another "good one" George. This should grab Capital Ron's interest. Thanks for the show.

Mike

I can see why it took you a while that is a massive collection. Very cool.

Thanks everyone; yeah, I thought Ron would like this one............

George

George,

Hinton Hunt made a large range of Napoleonics and other periods too, have a look at the link under listings, and again a very nice collection you have there.

Warrior, the display is really impressive.
My wargamers days are over for long now but when I see such marvellous battlefield, I'm tempted to start again !
Cheers,
Michel

Glad you liked it Ron; can Waterloo be far behind, we'll see............thanks fo the link Jeff, there was a guy in the states who used to sell pirated versions of the figures, they were terrible, basically just blobs of lead. The ones I have are originals from back in the day. Thanks as well Mardasson, Napoleonics really lend themselves to huge battle layouts.......

George,

Very nicely done! You make impressive 20mm setups. Is your tall grass a peice of carpet?
