090.JPG104.JPG These Egyptian mounted troops made up the rest of the Relief Column and there were nine squadrons of the Egyptian Camel Corps under the command of Col. Broadwood. DS81, 82, 83, 84, 85, and 86.

About six miles north of Omdurman near the village of Kerreri on the banks of the Nile, the Egyptian Camel Corps almost met its "Waterloo" when it was attacked by 20,000 Dervish. They were saved by the fire from the gun boats "Melk" and "Abu Klea" one of which is pictured here and re-introduced by Dragon Crest in 2002.
