I had a Jenkins USA Flag airplane redone. I like to call this the Confederate Secret Weapon, it was way ahead of its time and the only member of the Confederate Air Force. It will be a nice addition to the hum drum of ACW diorama. Will give it a little bit of levity.
Enjoy, Mike DeMarco did a terrific job on this plane with the painting conversion

Very imaginative, very creative. If only Lee had this at Gettysburg... ^&cool -- Al

True story behind this plane - my good friend Zach Lang won this as a promo item at MFCA. Later he indicated he didn't want the plane, so I traded him for it or started too, once I told him my idea, he gave me a tremendous trade deal! For less than the price of the original airplane, Mike designed and repainted it. I told him only that I wanted a Confederate Air Force! One other note - Mike hand painted the entire thing, no airbrush!

All in all, fun project and something neat to do. I am sure a purist or two will not like it, but tough cannolis!

Gotta salute the hand-painting skill this took. The stars are incredible. He must have the patience of a saint. -- Al

Although it’s not my thang, Mike is an amazing painter. If anybody needs anything painted or repaired by him, please contact me.

Re: The Confederate Air Force

Just noticed I can't spell in the title - obviously Force!

Tom, the forum interface has humbled just about all of us at one point or another.

When collectors register, perhaps they should be warned that their posts are editable, temporarily, but that the thread titles are FOREVER!

Tom, what does it say about me that I never noticed the spelling error as my mind just saw and read it as Force? Sometimes my approaching geezerdom worries me.{sm3} -- Al

I didn’t notice it either. We have incipient signs of becoming an alter cocker {eek3}

I just assumed that he was commenting on singer Jim Froce, but then the conversation veered into a discussion of model airplanes.;)

I plan on having this one set up to dive bomb Burnside Bridge! Like I said, it will eventually add some levity to the Civil War Scene. I am all for realism, but I also view my own displays as art, so like to take some license. I always feel like it you want an exact scene, google it and you will usually get a photo or an artist rendering that is near impossible to create in a 3d collector scene! That's what books are for, my displays need some levity.

Main reason I love Kelly's Heroes, certainly a lot more fun to see a scene with a bunch of crazy GI's searching out gold then to see a Stalingrad Diorama featuring a million Russian troops and a German Army starving to death!!!

But to each his own!

Hi Tom,
One of the great pleasures of 'Toy Soldier Collecting' is being The Supreme Commander of your own collection...

So, if you want to have your WW2 GI's battling prehistoric dinosaurs...go for it!

Or Medieval Knights being suddenly ambushed by hordes of yelling Sioux and Cheyenne warriors... Be my guest!

Perhaps, it's WW1 Rebel aircraft straffing Union soldiers at the Battle of Gettysburg...More power to your elbow!

Playing with toy soldiers is meant to be FUN...In all its multitude of guises...
Collect them...Display them...Cherish them...But, most of all, ENJOY THEM!

All the very best...and happy collecting,
Andy.

Andy,
My sentiments exactly!! You know the Rebs did win the Battle of Gettysburg right!!!???

In all seriousness, I enjoy my true history as much as anyone on here, I like to fanatically read and watch docs, but I tell you even though they take some license, the movies are what really hooked me into history, a few of the early ones were:

A. The Horse Soldiers - loved the movie, had rebs, yanks and even an old 4-4-0 Train!
B. Big Jake - Solidified my love of Cowboys and Outlaws - was there ever a better Duke and his Dog!
C. Sink the Bismarck
D. The Bridge at Remagen - just watched it again last night!

I think the confederate airforce needs some Armored Cav. too!
