The death of Wolfe (1 Viewer)

I picked up FM-01, BM-02 and 03 today. I also saw something numbered QR-01 - it was labeled "Battle of Quebec" but it did not look familar. Any ideas?
Combat,

Were did you get the BM-02 & BM-03 from?

On the QR-01 what did it look like and were did you see it?

Have a look at John Jenkins web site there are some past retired set there. A RR- 01 to RR-06 Rogers Rangers Series and WI-01 to WI-04 Woodland Indians Series, is it one of these?

Regards

Aussie Monty:)

It was a three figure set (no Indians) that most resembled the Rangers. As I recall it was labeled "Battle of Quebec". However, I don't see any of those sets on the JJ website that have three figures. Just glanced at it during my buying frenzy. The BM sets were the very last that this dealer had in stock.

Combat,

As you say the Retired Rangers do not have a 3 pieces set.

Yes it is becoming very hard to find BM-02, BM-03 & FM-01 and impossible to find BM-01.:(

Were was it, I would be very interested to talk to the dealer.

Thanks

Aussie Monty :)

All this talk does bring up a good point - Is There A List For US Dealers That Sell John Jenkins??

Excellent Work !

That will help everybody trying to find JJ figures. I hope those dealers are ready - because HERE WE COME  :D

Hi All,

Anyone looking for a BM-02 or BM-03, TM Terrain in the UK has some. www.tmterrain.com

But they want $50 GBP for BM-02 and $55 GBP for BM-03.

Do not get excited when you see he has BM-01 listed, he has none left. :(

This dealer is the only one with an BM-02 or BM-03 left, that I can find.

FM-01 are getting hard to find also so if you have not got one yet, be quick.

I should be on commission from John as a press agent. :D

Aussie Monty:)

Does anyone else know where we can find more BM-01 ?? Other dealers ??

Combat,

I have found a QR-01, March Through Time has a picture up on there web site, but are calling it QB-01, which is wrong. I will see if Jazzeum (Brad) can post this photo also.

Antique Center of Gettysburg also has some, he is calling them QR-01.

Were did you see the one you saw?

I have dropped John an email and asked him about these.

Will post when I get an answer.

Aussie Monty:)

The QR-01 set is called "Battle of Quebec 1759 - Wolfe's Rangers". I saw it at the Gettysburg shop. Any info that you find would be appreciated as I don't believe it is listed on the JJ website.

Two of the figures - one standing and one kneeling while firing - look similar to figures from RR-03. There were apparently 250 QR-01 sets produced. Strange that JJ does not know about them!

I was told that QR-01 "Wolfe's Rangers" was a special set made for last years Chicago show. My dealer said that they were told not to list or promote the set. It's almost like if you don't ask about the set you can't buy it. You can have a complete set of FIW from Jenkins without the QR-01 ;) or you can have a complete complete set if you have the QR-01:D . Regards to all.

I would be curious to hear from anyone that attended the Chicago show regarding the QR-01. They seem to be made in the typical run 250 sets like a regular early run. Maybe there were not many left after the show and JJ only made them available to a few dealers.

Just finished reading the account contained in Fred Anderson's book. I knew very little - bordering on nothing - about Wolfe's attack on Quebec. Among other things he was in bad health at the time and much disliked by his chief subordinates. Believing he was about die and then be disgraced by his subordinates for his inability to take Quebec, he decided to make what he believed to be a suicide attack (alas not via the RammJager) and go out in a blaze of glory. Much to his own surprise he caught the French off guard and managed to land his troops safely on the Plains of Abraham. He had no idea what to do next believing that he would have been killed during the landing. Fortunately for him, the French panicked and ordered a frontal attack that was cut to pieces by the British regulars. Quebec fell shortly thereafter and Wolfe's military reputation soared following his heroic death. More or less validating Napoleon's notion that it is better to have generals who are lucky than good.
