I collect JJD's "The First Sudan War...1884-1885"...

one of my favorite collections...
he does the Mahdist...
Bejas...
some Baqqaras...
some Egyptians...
Highlanders...
Marines
and Naval Brigade...

it's a very interesting range...I love the period...well romanticized in Hollywood...
sadly...
he has not developed in much in the last couple of years...

Hi Michael

The Sudan and Egyptian Campaigns have fascinated me for a few years now.

The development of uniforms and weapons allowed the different Toy Soldier companies to produce a fantastic range, fortunately Trophy covered the whole period from the Egyptian War of 1882 through to the Battle of Omdurman in 1898. But as Trophy is no longer in business there are two problems for new collectors to this range, firstly the availability of sets on the market and secondly the price that some of the sets from this series have been fetching. I know that I couldn't afford to buy the Dervish camels at the price some have sold for on Ebay in the last few months {eek3} Hopefully JJD will get back into regular releases of new sets, the sets that have been released are superb {bravo}}
