Eight episode series about Times Square in the early 1970's. Can't say I enjoyed it,
but it is well worth watching. Quite raw. One of the better HBO productions. James
Franco is good. Two more seasons are scheduled.

"The Deuce tells the story of the legalization and ensuing rise of the porn industry in New York beginning in the 1970s. Themes explored include the violence of the drug epidemic and the resulting real estate booms and busts that coincided with the change. The show's title is derived from the nickname for 42nd Street between Seventh Avenue and Eighth Avenue."

I watched the first 2 episodes and mid way thru the third I said why am I watching this, it was boreing me to death. Did it pick up? I can still watch it on demand. I thought I would enjoy this type of program so I was disappointed.

It is actually pretty faithful in telling the story. The gangster they feature was actually not the main one, the main one is Matty the Horse from Genoveses. He is briefly mentioned when they are working out the coin exchange. All in all a good series and it leaves nothing to the imagination!
