The Eagle (1 Viewer)

Anyone else fired up about seeing this one ? http://focusfeatures.com/the_eagle Looks like its gonna be pretty good the Picts are gonna speak Gaelic I guess they couldn't find a Pictish language coach :) . I will definitely be showing some support by throwing down my coin . Hey it's a freaking movie about the 9th legion's Eagle and the hunt to reclaim it , very cool to see on the Big screen . if it does well at the box office maybe they will make one about the battle of Teutoburg forest or Alesia ^&grin^&grin Regards Gebhard

A FOUR HOUR EPIC on the siege of Alesia would be most welcome- imagine a 3D version of it!! ^&grin Too bad ROME didn't tackle it till the very veryend.

That would be GREAT , If I ever hit the Mega millions I have a whole list of Great Movies I'd like to make ^&grin . It's really too bad the rest of the world is more interested in dropping down their coin to see CRAP . I'm really starting to get fired up about seeing Eagle the closer it gets to release date . I loved the recent Centurion movie, and the Eagle seems to be almost the same plot^&confuse Michael

I hope to have a better end than Centurion...

Something weird, on the preview it seems to have some African-Bushmen , so lets wait to see about that.

On the subject of Rome and her military, how about a top-notch treatment of Cannae? Plenty of personality, politics, and blood involved. Hannibal vs Rome. How does it get better? -- Al

I'm anxouis to see Eagle too.I liked Centurion.Really like a good movie about Rome.

I really enjoyed Centurion....her name escapes me, but the actor who was tracking the Romans was stellar. You really felt that the sole purpose of her life was to locate and dispatch the Romans. Her brutal singular focus was unnerving at times. She really captured a certain haunted intensity and played her role brilliantly. I hope the Eagle is on par, but it will be tough feat. The trailer looks quite promising though! I hope we get some good looks at Hadrian's Wall.

got a thing for sadistic killing wildwomen my friend?? ^&grin^&grin

Yeah, Centurion was pretty good- I agree, she was unnerving at times- women like that are why women are excluded from direct combat roles in the US!! ^&grin

Yea she was nice to look at but after she killed the General  I was just waiting to watch her die .....she could take a punch which was a bit too hokey. ^&grin For me the Centurion started out strong but died out , the CG blood splatter was also a bit lame , That's why I'm hoping the Eagle will be better . I guess we will find out soon enough :)

it comes out today- sounds like date night for me and the wife!! ^&grin She is still hounding me to take her to see that flippin Colin Firth movie- the King and whatever-
the reviews do not sound too bad- which is a promise.

I just heard a review of "The Eagle" on Bill Bennett's show, and it does sound like it's worth actually going to the theater to see it.

And Chris, do see "The King's Speech", it's another interesting and well-done historical drama.

Prost!

I've heard nothing but fantastic reviews about it- it's just my wife gets so buttery/sappy with Colin Firth it's ridicuolous. He did some ABBA inspired musical a couple years ago and she plays that D-mn thing 1-2 a week!! It's driving my crazy!! ^&grin

Yes, I am a wildly jealous husband ^&grin^&grin

The review this AM in the Washington Post was less than glowing. Gave it 1 1/2 stars out of 4. Says the plot is full of holes, bad dialog, over the top action, and the reviewer was really bothered by bad accents (American, faux English, and combos thereof) used by the actors. I'm guessing the reviewer wanted something else to do.:rolleyes2: -- Al

The lady on Bennett's show mentioned the plot holes and the accents, but felt it was still worth seeing. I think I'll go out to see this one, instead of waiting for DVD.

Prost!
