{bravo}}Outstanding JB, very well done indeed ..... and pay no mind to that Jeff fellow, he just wants to get a better look at all that green paint that somehow got away from him.

A Battery of "The Emperor's Daughters" Have been drawn up and are about to fire a salute - in front of their beloved Emperor who may be seen taking the Salute - on horseback - at the rear of a Parade drawn up in his honour. I have taken the liberty of adding in a Band and a few more figures. The battery comprises six cannon - with 5 crew members per Cannon (Corporal Gun Commander, Spongeman, loader, firer, and a gunner-bucketman). Two sous-officers and an Officer/Battery Commander complete the complement.

Except for the three mounted Curassierres at the rear of the Imperial Guards Band (who hail from Dorset!), all of the figures drawn up here - were from Prince August moulds - made by my good friend mensaman (JP), and were, of course, painted by yours truly. Thanks to one John for the castings - and yet another John (Obee) for some help and advice on painting them. Lots of fun to do - and even better fun to play with by yet another John (me!). After much maneouvering, adjustment and (well, lets be honest, playing with 'em really!), I manageed to take a few snaps - four of which which are darn nearly in focus! (well, makes a change), - so see below. Hope you like 'em, 'cos I do............. johnnybach:D

Hello JB

Fantastic - you have made a brilliant job of these and the photos are excellent I particularly like photos 3 and 4 - which give a better overview of the assembled pieces. Even my wife was delighted with them (she snuck in my office behind me while viewing and was very impressed!) Now if you can impress 'she who must be obeyed' by some toy soldiers then you must be onto a winner - she is never impressed with my castings no matter how hard I try. Ha ha

Probably because when the muse is upon me she rarely sees me - and I can spend untold hours in my garage casting to my hearts delight! Once again my friend this has been an excellent series and given me some ideas of just how to paint ... did I mention I am having a go but there are just not enough hours in the day or night! Looks like the three John's could be called the three musketeers from now on.

All the best for now. JP:cool:

Hi both. Cheers Jeff - love that Brunswick Green on the bases.

Hi JP - Glad you liked seeing some of your newborn - all dressed up and nowhere to go! Also received you latest despatch from that lovely old Schneider mould of yours today - and they are great too. Strongly tempted to take some time out and give 'em a lick of paint very soon. First semi-rounds I have ever managed to get hold of - and they are just gorgeous.
Cheers chum - and thanks again - without guys like you - I wouldn't have a hobby.^&grin

Beautiful jb {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Cheers

Like that low angle shot of the gun battery...{sm4}....first rate painting by the way.

Hi Ragnar. Would you believe that 18 months ago - I didn't know how to switch that camera on. I have progressed to the "full auto" mode now (i.e the easy way) - but I'm still a bit hit or miss on focussing - especially at close range. With that pic. I just put the camera on the floor and clicked. Did come out nicely - mind. Glad you liked the painting too - they were nice castings to work with. jb

Johnny,

WELL DONE ...

you have done a great project with all the painting, and the photography and its a great way to show other, who don't paint, what a joy it is bring these 'pices of meta'l into life with a 'lick of paint' and get favourable feedback from other like minded people.

Keep up the good work, and show us more of your work.

John

Thanks chaps - is it my imagintion - or is this something about being called John?^&cool

Anyhoo - glad you enjoyed them taking shape. I know my limitations - so quite like doing bigish groups to display - keeps you all from looking too closely at the details - which are what I like - Glossy Toy Soldier, rather than connoiseur (can never spell that), individual figures. ^&grin

I do so agree John (guess which one!) - it isn't all that difficult to turn very reasonably priced castings - into something that you, or the Grandchildren ( if you're old enough), can play with - so I do wish more would give it a try. What I always try to do - is to show in easy stages, my way of doing it. Hope it worked - and glad you like them..................jb:D

P.S Get well soon John - the other one!
