Too hot and humid to be outside today so I decided to do some serious work on my large (72" x 30") diorama of the fall of Acre in July 1191. My wife has been asking me for awhile now to vacate the dining room where I have had my collection scattered about on the dining room table :(. I found a perfect spot for the diorama in my basement :). Anyway here are some pics of what I have done so far today. The table top is painted for now - I will be adding landscaping materials to it eventually. Also, the "Acre" city facade will include at least 2 more towers and wall sections and the gate. TTT :) Things Take Time.

This looks like it is going to be a great thread Mike. I will look forward to seeing your display progress. :)

I've been playing Assasins Creed on the PS3, Great graphics!!, you visit all the crusaders sites including Acre and it's during the time of Richard vs. Saladin.:p

Great start. It seems just getting a project up and going is the hardest part sometimes:). Are you planning on adding more wall sections? Keep us posted on your progress it looks like it's going to be quite a display:cool:.

At this point I a, planning on adding 2 more towers, a wall section, and the gate. That will extend the city facade all the way into the corner.

Coming along nicely Mike. I love that fallen Crusader vs the mounted Saracan set.

MIKE - OUTSTANDING !! :D

I am very jealous with the table space you have there ;) - It will be a real great diorama when you are done - I am sure.

Love the placement of the wounded guy at the bottom of the ladder as if he just fell off and broke his poor back.

Wow! Looks like a great start! :) Keep us posted.

Many of you have expressed an interest, or have helped in someway, in the diorama I am making. I am making a little progress as I can. Today I received another Ancient City damaged wall section and a tower. I have been in contact with John Gittens (JG Miniatures) and he is custom making me an undamaged wall section (which I believe will be delivered this coming Monday - thanks to Mandy at Treefrog Treasures) and two tower facades (one for each end, fitting flush with the room walls). The diorama is going to represent the northeast corner of the outer defense wall of Acre being breached by English, French and other coalition Crusader forces. Anyway here are a couple more pics on what I have been able to do so far - remember its still a work in progress and no where close to being done.

Pretty cool it even looks like the little guys are constructing it themselves. :)

Looks really good should be a site to see once your finished.

excellent progress mate, but i think you do need a wee bit more Saracens.

:)

Yes I know I am short on Saracens. That's why the corner was breached so easily - LOL. My next purchase concentration will be on Saracens.

Nicely going, but why do you all put the well outside the walls?

I would like to get the JG Ancient City Walls - but I am affraid that once I do - K&C will come out with their City Wall Diorama Piece
