The Fall of Acre June/July 1191 (1 Viewer)

I would like to get the JG Ancient City Walls - but I am affraid that once I do - K&C will come out with their City Wall Diorama Piece

I believe they have an understanding...

KC Battle of the Bulge figurines <=> JG Miniatures Dioramas

KC Crusadres <=> JG Minatures Castle walls

KC Egyptians <=> JG Miniatures Egyptian house and stage

KC Arnhem <=> JG Miniatures Arnhem house

JP

The only thing Andy has an understanding with is:

King & Country = $$$

$$$ = King & Country

:D :D :D

Nicely going, but why do you all put the well outside the walls?

JP

Wells were found both inside and outside the walls of cities. I have read that many times the wells were near gates. Eventually I am going to put the well outside of the walls where the Crusader camp will be - like an oasis. Many of the palm trees will be placed there. It will also be easy to see an enjoyed vrs. being "inside"

Received the custom made JGN24B "Undamaged Ancient City Wall" that I had requested made. Looks really nice. I have also ordered two custom made tower facades - one for each end butted up against the room walls. Here's a new pic showing the undamaged wall section - I just got the mounted knight from Dragoon of this forum in trade for a set of JJD figures - thanks Ken.

I believe I would have to agree with you JP. Come on Ron - "jump in" and get a tower and a wall or two, the water is not that deep - LOL

Mike,

Looking really good!! I am glad to see you put your new found funds to such good use. And you are tempting me to build my own castle.

Ron, the price was the same as a damaged wall, $122. I emailed John Gittens (JG Miniatures) first to see if he could do it. Once he varified that he could, I then worked with Mandy at Treefrog Treasures to place the custom order. Very easy to do. I have followed the same steps in ordering the 2 custom tower facades I want (basically John is going to slice the windows out of a tower and then send me the two sides that have the arched doors) - ordered them with Mandy's help today.

I have about 26 books on the various crusades but I don't have that one. I will have to plan to get it. Thanks for the thought - Mike

Hello Mike, good display you have there.

What Crusader book you could suggest? I really like the most the THIRD CRUSADE (1189–1192).

Thanks
Rod.

I tend to enjoy books on the first three crusades, but especailly ones on the 2nd and 3rd crusades. Dr. David Nicolle is a very well published author that I enjoy reading. He has written many of the Osprey books regarding the Crusades and Medieval warfare. The Osprey books are a great "quick" read that pack alot of info into a small package. I would say my favorite Osprey books are Hattin 1187; Saladin's Greatest Victory, and The Third Crusade 1191; Richard the Lionheart, Saladin and the Struggle for Jerusalem. Both of these were authored by Nicolle. I also like God's Warriors; Crusaders, Saracens, and the Battle for Jerusalem (David Nicolle), Saladin and the Fall of Jerusalem (Stanely Lane-Poole), and The Leper King and His Heirs; Baldwin the IV and the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem (Bernard Hamilton) .

Work on the Fall of Acre diorama is progressing. I am creating some landscaping detail which is adding height and depth to the table top scene. Will have more pics soon to share.
