The finest WWII figures I have ever seen... (1 Viewer)

It doesn't matter to me what size these are as they are eastern front and you wouldn't mix them with other ranges for the west.N.Africa,Italy etc..

I could give a rip about what scale they are and the height is not the problem for me. The problem I am having with them is that everything BUT their height is so much smaller than the figures I’m familiar with. I agree about the sculpting and paint – good stuff, but I’d like to be able to appreciate this from a distance of say 18 inches like I can with JJD, EoI, Britains or K&C

I’ll buy more because they are great figures and no one else is doing Stalingrad, but they will be at the bottom of my list due to their price.

Whew! Some strong emotions over a "wee bit o' difference", as Andy (or any Scotsman) might say.

For me this is where the beloved "free market" comes into play. Assuming FL, like any good capitalist organization, is in the profit maxization business, above all else, theoretically speaking at least, it is ultimately their call.

If their products keep selling and growing in popularity they will have no need to change their scale - unless they think it will increase sales even more.

If, on the other hand, their sales level off, or even decline, FL could decide its scale should be adjusted.

Either way, the decision is all theirs. It would seem they believe there is a need for a whole new niche in the TS world. Thus why they came in at a different size/quality/price ratio than the current players. They may or may not ever completely overtake the big boy. But a good niche that you can call your own can be a very successful strategy.

Note that FL would probably have not made much of an impact if they had just tried to do what you-know-who already does but at a higher/lower price point. Being "different/unique" while still delivering a good "value propostion" (in MBA speak) are KEY when a new competitor decides it wants to enter a market. They have clearly done that.

Id call it a successful business strategy, thus far, without knowing actual numbers. Nonetheless, the good news is every collector has a vote in the matter - based on what YOU do with YOUR limited collecting dollars. Buy FL products and you support the current style. Dont buy and you encourage change. As the end of the day, talk is cheap, and actions speak louder than any Forum.

I have just recieved some FL german figures and I must say they are very well done.....EXCELLENT......Realism un-matched.........AND.........I knew full well that they would NOT be compatiable with K/C as indicated on the FL website (see size comparisons)........IF......K/C is truely 1:30 scale then FL is NOT 1:30.....I believe they are closer to 1:32 scale..........irregardless.......This is a line that must stand on its own merit.....They are HIGH QUALITY and UNIQUE in style......I do "not" think that Matt should "scale up" these figures to match other manufacturers as Louis suggested........What I want is "consistency" within the line itself.......I for one would be "very upset" if FL changed the size of their WWII figures at this stage of the game.....Matt those of us who are on board with your WWII range have made a commitment to the line......"CONSISTENCY" within the range is essential.........The Cost Factor is a consideration in this range and I hope they will be affordable.................I look forward to the Stug and other tanks to be released...........Thanks Matt for a GREAT PRODUCT.

i agree with this post.
as any other collectors, lower pricing from any manufacturer will always be appreciated.:D
but importantly (to me at least), superior products which are consistent within the range itself, plays a big part in my buying choice.

Vezzolf,

Nice comments. Have you seen the photos that kicked off this thread?

Yes Brad, The photos at the start of this thread really show off the detail in this series......And the figures themselves do not dissappoint.....

Yes, those are tremendous photos. Did those photos inspire you to buy them.

Good question, Brad. GERSTAL010 Pioneer Assault Group will be shipping to customers in about 2 weeks or so. The pre-order on the next 7 figures will start at about the same time and yes, they will be at Chicago. So all totalled, there will be 28 of our WWII figures at Chicago being displayed with at least part of the diorama that is shown on our website home page. We are unsure at this point if the Stug will be there or not. We hope to at least have a sample of one there if not have them for sale. Too early to say...

Of the next seven figures, 3 are Russian and 4 are German. I've already shown one of the Germans in another thread (GERSTAL014 Oberleutnant). Here are a few images of the masters of the other 3 Germans that will be part of the next release.

GERSTAL011, 12, and 13 - 3 x Running Gemans.

After these are released and the Stug is released, we will immediately follow up before the end of the year with at least one other vehicle and get the Stug tank riders out plus a few more pioneers/heer infantry with various support weapons. The range, which will be heavily German at this point, will then shift towards the Russians and we'll release several figures/pieces meant to blow up that Stug as well as additional types of Russian Infantry. From there, we will continue to add vehicles, guns, and more and more figures at pretty consistent pace and with additional variety of equipment and covering additional sections of the battle. We've said that this is going to be a very thorough and complete range and it will be.

So those are the broad strokes but certainly you should expect a few surprises as well. ;)

Matt

Ahh, my favorite three figures we've done so far. The pre-order will start around the 20th or thereabouts along with the Stug(s) and tank riders and all will be shipping late October. Also, we're doing the tank riders in two versions - one set with bases to use as regular figures and one set with no bases as tank riders. We really love the figures and thought they could serve just as well with bases for those who don't have the Stug.

Glad to hear you're pleased with GERSTAL010!

Matt, I must say that making the tank riders with bases and without bases proves to me that me that much thought has been placed into the "development" of this series.....I look forward to them....I hope that we will be able to purchase the tank riders as individual figures so that we can mix and match.....Thank you again for a great product....
