The newest addition to my collection of Thomas Gunn Miniatures aircraft models: the Focke-Wulf Flitzer.

The Flitzer was a conceptual German jet fighter under development near the end of WWII, built around a twin boom tail design, quite similar to the contemporary British DeHaviland Vampire. The Flitzer only ever reached the early stages of development with a wooden mockup built and never went into production. The aircraft was to incorporate a Walther rocket motor in addition to the jet engine, which TGM has faithfully replicated. The paint job is fictional. When I first saw the model, I thought it seemed under scaled, but measurements show it to be just about right - the Flitzer wasn’t a huge aircraft.

Below are some pics of my little setup using some TGM and K&C Luftwaffe figures. Enjoy 😃

Neat looking display, TG have made some great aircraft models over the years. Personally I prefer the simple square black edging you have used here to the timber molding you see on some dioramas

Could you supply some details regarding the construction of the base? It looks great!

Thanks for the kind comments everyone 😃

HB120050, the base was simple to construct: I took an 11”x14” (28 x 35.5 cm) picture frame I got at a craft store and removed the backing and glass. I then cut down a 38cm by 28.5cm Small TGM display mat (in this case the Luftwaffe Hard Standing MAT011 product) and just placed that into the frame. The TGM mats can be easily cut to size using a ruler and sharp razor blade.

The basic concept of the picture frame vignette diorama is something I learned from a friend a few years back. However, since I began collecting the premium 1/30 scale toy soldiers in earnest, the process has made for a creative way to display aircraft, armor, and figures without taking up a ton of space.

Beautiful aircraft, Tman. I love your displays as well. Appreciate the "how to" explanation. I always admire your scenes!
