Throughly enjoyed looking at this top notch work, Bradley. The snow looks so real I'd be worried about it melting. What did you use? Roots look splendid too. I feel like a kid in a toy shop when I'm walking along the river bank and I see suitable bunch of roots. Nature provides!

I'd love to make a similar scene. The atmosphere of winter war scenes are very dramatic.

Cheers,
Ollie

Hahaha, me too. A friend referred to that being a “diorama hobo!” Walking around town picking up odds and ends for dioramas.

I used a couple of things for snow which I will need to go look up. I essentially created a sticky, gooey paste that would lump and clump. While it was still tacky I used Woodland Scenics sparkly snow, with a more powdered snow and then something else that I will have to remember to create the powder look on top. I had one pure white mixture and one “dirty” mixture I created by accident but looked good.

Many of the bushes were roots pulled up in the garden. The twigs represent saplings that are prevalent in pictures form the eastern front in winter.

Andanna turned me on to the sagebrush trees.

Diorama Hobo is a title I'll proudly wear as I rummage through the undergrowth :D

The snow mix you've concocted is the best I've seen. I'm looking forward to attempting my own at some point.

Sagebrush is great looking stuff. I wish we had it here.

Cheers,
Ollie
