The Ghost Strikes on the Chir (1 Viewer)

Thank you, Steve!

Is your name in reference to the 29th ID? I drive through heart of where it traditionally recruited all the time.

My Dad served with the 116th field Artillery, 29 Division. Landed on Omaha Beach and survived the war as a an artillery observer. He was living in Pennsylvania when drafted.

Very cool. My dad was a "red leg" with the 82nd AA. Most of my uncles (my mom was 11 of 12 so many of my uncles were the age of most people's grandparents) were with the 30th ID.

Got the diorama outside and took a few shots in a late winter afternoon setting:

Bradley...
those are some crisp photos...
love the use of the tree armatures and twigs provided by Mother Nature...
you can't beat her work for realism...

Thanks Mike! I do love finding those ideas. Especially using the root systems of weeds.

Here are some full frontal shots where I altered the angle to the sun, but it was also sinking fast for 3:30PM in the afternoon.

Final angle, one more quarter turn and almost no direct sun left.

First one brings some of the ground work into focus and the second focuses on the wingman panzer:

Brilliant mate thoroughly enjoying this thread

Thanks Wayne! There is one more section to the diorama that I am gathering materials to complete. Hopefully new pictures over the Thanksgiving weekend (2 weekends from now).

Brilliant !

The natural sunlight really adds to the photos of your diorama. Just looking at it makes me feel cold !:salute::

Colonel Theodor Graf von Schimmelmann's 15th Panzer-Regiment feels re-energized as the 110th and 111th Panzergrenadier Regiments join in the counter attacks to push the 5th Guards Tank Army back across the Chir. The victory feels good for a short while... until the news of the 6th Army's surrender at Stalingrad arrives:

Looks like your diorama is coming along very well ! :salute::
