So, work sends me out of town and I'm holed up in a hotel 100 miles from home. What do I do with all this free time? Try to put a good dent in identifying what's left of the unidentified soldiers in this collection. Thanks to Boerboy for helping me knock out a good chunk of this. But, there's stragglers that we were not able to ID, or got overlooked either in presentation or explanation. Any insight you guys can provide is greatly appreciated. I'm trying to get this all done before the MFCA show in May. I'll be setting up as a vendor to find new homes for my father-in-law's prized treasures. Stop by the table to say hi if you're going to the event. But, for now, and without further ado, here's the first group of chaps running around my hotel room without a name to call their own.

Part II .... I was having a hard time with the natives carrying the bloke on the chair. The whole set was in a Fusilier box. But, as I have learned, what's on the box doesn't necessarily represent what's in the box. Interpreting Dave's handwriting presented its own challenges as well at times. I found more figures in the same style and believe most of these are Imperial. Am I close? And, what do I make of the seated chaps, the Germans and the US Marines?

There's a mark on the base of the Marines, but, it's hard to make out. These are the best 2 of the bunch.

I also discovered that the Egyptians have what looks like a GB scratched into the recessed bases. The recess has made me change my opinion of those 3 figures being Imperial.

I can only imagine what the housekeeping staff would think if I didn't have the Do Not Disturb sign in the door.

These figures were done by Giles Brown of Dorset Models. If they say "GB", they are his, if they have same base with/without recess and say AR, they were done by Andrew Rose for Bastion Models OR sometimes Wessex which was a joint venture with Giles Brown of Dorset.

Thanks, Tom. Al helped me identify this set as White Man's Burden by Dorset. The guy in white that I had pictured above with the Egyptians is the only figure with the GB on the base. From the on line examples I've found of this set, he definitely belongs here. It's interesting, though, that he is the only one with the recess and that marking. All the others are flat bases with no marking. Also of note, my set seems to have 2 more Boers and less Africans than other examples I've seen. I'm just assuming that this is a normal part of variations that exist. Which leads me to question whether there would be any reason that those two Egyptians would historically belong with this set. It doesn't feel like they should, but, they are the only other figures with that recessed GB.

For those who may not have seen it, there is a Britains Edition of The Great Hotel ID Project. Swing in over to the Britains Glossy section to see the figures posted there. In the meantime, here's a few more I have not been able to put a pin in. Thr Soldiers of the World Romans I have identified from right to left as RIG 26, 27, 30, 31, 36, 37 with the last 3 not identified. Everything else eludes me. Full disclosure, I have already identified the notepad as Post-it and the tape as Scotch

Edit ... The SOTW IDs in my previous reply run left to right. Dyslexics of the world untie!!!

Edit 2 ... I've been told that the Dorset figures I claimed to be Boers could in actuality be Sudan War Sailors.
